BF3 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
The AH-1 Super Cobra in Battlefield 3 is the main attach helicopter for the US forces. It’s the tried and tested Cobra attack helicopter which has seen combat for decades, and it returns in Battlefield 3, this time, players can unlock a wide range of accessories and weapons. It still seats two: a pilot and a gunner. The Cobra is the counterpart for the Russian attack helicopter Mi-28.
UPDATE: the main attack helicopter for the US side in Battlefield 3 is the AH-1Z version of the helicopter, also known as the Viper.

hmm, they chose to use a picture of the AH-1Z. Was this on purpose? Are they getting AAMs, on the outer mount points? and what bout loads, are they going to be able to switch between bear, and duck hunting?

I’m fairly sure that the pictured helicopter is the same one that is used in the game. In the beta I saw the cobra with the same loadout. I seent it. LOL. Anyway, it will be sweet. Jets and helicopter gunships locking on to targets that have been painted by ground forces.
Apparrently you gets thumb down around here, for pointing out things that might not be as obvious to some.
If was a fair enough question there people, I did not see that AH-1 during the beta and so found it confusion that the text is for the AH1-W, and the picture is an AH-1Z.
At last we are not flying the Armies AH-64, that always struck me as silly.

It is the Viper. No idea why they are calling it the Super Cobra. Same with the Huey. It’s the Venom.
why do we have to use old military tech! lets role in the Venom and Viper. there the new and improved version
That’s an AH-1Z Viper. “AH-1″ is the designation for the vietnam era cobra. The Viper is a different helicopter as it has 4 rotor blades and an improved engine turbine, as well as a nose mounted targeting array.
What is TV missiles? Never heard about it..
It’s just a missile that the shooter controls vertically and horizontally. No lock on, best for going around corners and taking out fast moving tanks.
Hey why they replaced AH-64 with this old junk?? I thought the AH-64 already replace this one.
derp herp. bf3 features the Marines, and they don’t fly the apache. the Marines still fly variants of the AH-1. That’s why there aren’t no f-22s or f-16s, the f-18s are in the game because the Marine Corps actually has them.
TV missile ??? LOL its a joke , this TV rebound on the target 3/4 of the time you hit ! lol really bad for dice ! and not a very good aim ! its a square like bf2 but no *+* to aim like bf2 strange ! Bf2 TV missiles was so good to dogfight !

I still miss my Apache, I don’t like the Cobra as much.
this attack choppers are so unreal… I shoot AA guns right at their front windows and nothing would happen, then the choppers shoot a few rockets and BOOM!… im history. they are so overpowered, there is no effective way to fight them and they simply dominate everything else in the game. stingers dont work, AA guns dont work, AA vehicles dont work, machine guns dont work…. its very stupid… how the chopper supposed to have flares? and even if they hadnt the flares, it would still take 3 successfull missle hits to bring it down!!! silly job dice, really silly…
Uhhh, no offense, but… I think you suck when it comes to using AA guns, using AA rockets, etc… because I have absolutely no trouble when taking one down, unless they get scared and go over a hill… then, if they come back, I just designate them and slam them with a Javelin
i love the AH-1Z. i think its better than the AH-64
I have been playing BF3 since it came out, althought only a rank 18. But I have not ever seen a vehicle in MP. Only in campaign. How or when do I get to use vehicles in MP? I want to shoot people up with a helicopter too!!!!
Make sure you are not on Infrantry Only Server or Metro Map , Most are labeled . Don’t spawn right away when logging on MP game. Wait until vehicles show up and select one as spawn. Practice flying on empty server that has 1 player start before you try in a real match. You earn unlocks by killing enemies.
TV missile would be a variation of the Maverick missile. Been around for decades (I think they also have a radar guided or laser guided version). Helfire is much better as far as laser guided goes. As far as killing choppers: if you target them with two weapon systems simultaneously, they usually don’t survive.
Last patch made it really hard to bring down choppers with shoulder fired missles or mobile AA. Make sure target is high in sky fire one missle and wait until pilot uses flairs, then fire again.
