The F-35 can engage (and destroy) ground targets very easily, but its dog fighting abilities are sub-par.

Looks more like a F-22 Raptor. Only this one has 1 engine instead two. And the reason they don’t put in two person jets is because they would be too powerful with the right pilot.

Please don’t start that “it’s not real” crap. Just because you don’t know enough about the military other than war games doesn’t mean you know what you’re talking about. The F35 is a STOVL/VTO Stealth Bomber with fighter CAPABILITIES. The F22 is a stealth-air superiority fighter, and currently the best multirole fighter aircraft ever built.

No. Not at all. The F15 is the greatest multirole fighter of all time. The F22 is stealthy. That’s the real difference. And Boeing made a stealth F15 and both the standard and stealth F15 cost less than the F22 combined! So shut the fuck up

You could not be more wrong. I work for the 422 TES at Nellis afb. The f-15s are always playing war games against the f-22 and constantly losing. Even when the 15 pilots are given some of the raptors tech, such as the look and lock technology, they still don’t even come close to even locking onto a raptor.

And the f35 was ultimately designed to be the next a10

Of course it looks like the f-22. They are both made by Lockheed Martin. The f-22 was completely useless to us because it’s an air-to-air fighter jet and we are not fighting any air-to-air battles and all we were using was the f-18s to bomb. So the government set out for a contract deal between Lockheed Martin and Boeing to build our next ultimate jet. Long story short Lockheed won and now it’s our new bomber but we actually still use the f-18 more due to its availability.

RU couterpart will probably be MIG-29 but don’t see the point since SU-35 is better than them both as a dog fighter.

What about the yak – 38?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yak-38

or its proposed successor the yak – 141?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakovlev_Yak-141

I believe a prototype was made, but production of the yak – 141 was cancelled. Those two planes seemed to be the closest Russian counterpart to the F – 35B.

because there is at least 2 versions of that map for assault, small and large. it should say while loading but i dont think it does, maybe the image is different but i dont remember. its pretty small for a jet map, cant go too far before u hit the boundaries in some parts.

Has anyone figured out the optimal turning speed of the F-35? This jet is quite difficult to dodge missiles without flares.

Oh my god I knew they’d do this. Put “marines” on the F-35. The F-35 is an AIR FORCE joint strike fighter. Not navy. Not marines. Talk about some bullsheezy. I know the marines are the U.S. military posterboys but c’mon….throw us other branches a bone every now and then!

Nice try, but the VTOL version of the F-35 is navy and marine corps. There are a couple different f-35 versions.

Same goes for the A-10. It’s USAF only. I laughed when I saw it taking off from a carrier. That fat thing is way too heavy for that.

    A1C Gilliam,

Your wrong. The F-35 is a jet that is contracted to be used by the Air Force, Navy, and Marines. Its replacing the USAF F-22 and F/A-18 & F-18 for the Navy and USMC. Get your facts straight before you post garbage.

Theres 3 different variants of the F-35. The F-35A is the Air Force version that will replace the F-16 not the F-22. The F-35B is the Marine Corp version that is replacing the AV-88 Harrier, and the F-18 / F/A-18. The F-35C is the Navy version replacing the F-18 / F/A-18.

God, this thing sucks. Can’t dust off without being shot down. When do get into the air, it’s so fat anything can hit it so when we rotate teams, I sit in a mobile AA lighting them up…halfway down with Mobile AA thanks to these “jets”.

@ James, the F-35 is NOT replacing the F-22, which has only been in service for 6 years. Especially considering the F-22 is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighter aircraft ever, and the F-35 is plagued by potential problems.

yes but the F-22 has been grounded because it’s been found to leak a deadly gas that’s killed well over 3 pilots.
