BF3 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Weapon optics?
I just wanna let you all know that the mortars are carried by the support class.
Ish in the next category.
The engineer is officially a one man killing crew, move aside assault, the big boys are in town.
Woah this is awesome bf3blog.
Seems like the engineer has some really good equipment.
Badass!! I’m loving this game!
The engineer will be balanced though no worries, but with this kind of equipment if use it for first mining the objective then switching for some spoting then motoring them with ammo refill from a allie.
What’s good about the engineer having alot of equipment is that’s what there thing is unlike in the pasting repairing and running with a gun I like how they’re role is becoming closer to it by using more equipment.
Bfblog you guys are doing really great at getting this out there! but you missed something ammo kit
Support is ammo
The engineer will be a major force multiplier.
stupid question, who can fly the jets? cant wait to get the game!
The answer is tentatively anyone, though only if you mean “who is capable of entering the cockpit of the jets.” whether or not you get off the ground is entirely dependent on your skills as a pilot/the number of assholes laying mines on your runway/other unchecked jets strafing you as you take off.
This is why I think in the future there should be a pilot class that auto selects the best 2-4 or however many players and designates them as air support for one game, then switches up. The current system works OK, but the problem is that people vehicle camp instead of actually trying to win, thus ruining the point of the game.
Really hope smoke grenades are more effective than bc2.
Also very curious to see how the 60mm mortar works. Imagine taking out a jet with a mortar
I guessing you can switch out the mortar with the rocket?
Yeah that’s what I would guess, I’m just wondering what it would be like to use it. More importantly how much damage it can cause.
that would be awsome
probably like the one in vietnam.
i realy thing that smoke grenades are more powerful than morter strikes in BF3 but not in BC2
Mike_nz how do you put an avatar
http://gravatar.com/
It’s a gravatar.
G there and set one up.
I loved the smoke grenades from bf2bc. Used em a lot to defend.
Awesome.
Cheers for the mortar, the mortar in BFV was fun. Not thrilled about the claymore, unless it’s remotely detonated or something. Set and forget claymores should be a thing of the past.
mines are alredy deploy and forget. i just lay em infront of the enemy base and run away. cause if their gonna spawncamp ME, then ill skrew with their precious helicopters and tanks.
Imagine six guys laying down a continuous barrage of huge-ass 60 mike-mike mortar shells. Bad-fucking-ass.
10 engineers + Mortars = A hell FUCKING killing machine
32 engineers with mortar
Yeah It would be cool but the problem is that the support group is the one who gets the mortars i know because i unlocked it in the beta but i cant use it.
The mortar is in the support class
Hell FUCKING Yes
Nice. I can image that we will have a Mortar team. hehe
How do you know that the Engineer get’s the MAV and 60 mm Mortar? Has DICE comfirmed it? Who is your source?
Recon has mortars…unlocked them on the beta
first bf im getting, just orderd it. looks like its gonna own cod i hop so!
Fyi guys, claymores won’t dentonate while you are crouched or prone, Dice made this so it won’t be unbalanced like CoD
They had the claymores in BF2142 as well and the didnt go off if your were prone or were walking slow
I like the idea of the EOD bot. Sounds like something that a lot of people might be using in the middle of an epic tank battle to repair tanks so that the engineers woulden’t have to go die just to try to repair a tank.
Yeah, I see it now. Everyone is using EOD bots. AN ALL OUT BOT WAR!!! HELL YES!!!!
I think it’d be funny to see a whole team being engineers and one unlucky enemy comes along to find a wall of EOD bots.
this equipment will make the battles a hell of alot more realistic then cod. I dont give a fuck if cods running 60 frames it dosent mean shit to me. that game has more laging then any game i know and battlefield runs smoother just to let everyone know how much easier it is to find a non laggy game in battlefield games
I agree. People act like it matters, but to be honest, I can’t tell the difference between 60 and 30 because Call of Duty is terrible at handling connections.
That 1 dislike you got is probably from a COD player!
Battlefield should never have claymores, it is known for being annoying in other games. Campers can now camp and can’t be taken out behind.
Rocket launcher anyone
??
Crouch or go prone and they won’t detect you. Just to be safe, crouch into every doorway and then you probably won’t get blown up if there’s one near the door.
Yes but dice have shown us that sniper scopes will give off a glint from the lenses allowing you to ‘rat’ out those pesky sniper nests with those awesome mortars eh?
One thing I didn’t like about that was;
Yeah, great, it gives off some light from the scope, but unless you kill them, is it making a difference? Nope. And even if you do kill them, a determined camper will just go back.
i wonder how the mortar is going 2 work
my m.o.s in the service is 11-C witch is infintry mortar and im super curious how the 60mm mortar system will work in this game. im not sure how familiar the general public is with mortar systems. now as far as the game goes the only way i could see this working is in a (direct lay) firing mode witch would mean you would need eyes on the target to range the target hopefully with a range finder then proceed to adjust rounds on target. now the 60mm system can be deployed in real life in to configurements hand held or conventional.all this means is wether not you use the bi pod and big base blate or wether you use the tube and smaller base plate. if hand held is correct then im guessing there wont be to much to it other than leaning the analog forward for increased range or leaning it back for shorter distances. i would also like to say that all 60mm mortars in the us army have a built in elevation meter at the base of the tube showing how much tilt equals how much range. hopefully this will be in the game to make range finding easier when adjusting rounds. i would also like to see white phosphoris rounds and maybe some illuminating rounds cause these are intrical parts of supporting the battlefeild. screening movements with smoke from indirect systems (yes the mortar is an indirect weapon) is vital in real life scenarios. i would like to see more of this motar aspect . they could go as far as foward observers who could call in fire mission from afar witch then a mortar system could respond to. there is a good future here with this game and i cant wait to see where it takes us in the future ………(off topic)…………..im just saying we all might be flying uav’s in the future
Hahaha!!! I have no idea what any of that means… but i like the way it sounds! I have a feeling that mortars will be my weapon of choice!
Engineer ftw
Support gets the mortars
i liked the battlefield 1942 system, one person had to pull out their binoculars and spot a target, then the morter guy has 20-30 seconds looking threw the spotters binoculars while he hones his shots in. the binoculars follow the round flying threw the air. you always missed on the first shot, but rained hell afterward.
i just saw a french link saying that the morter is in singleplayer only. i really hope that this is wrong.
The mortar is probably just single player..I haven’t seen it at all in the beta so far, and engineer kit is all I use.
I would have though it would be awesome to use the project reality system.
Somebody in the squad marks a point on the map, which you then have to find the distance to (through the legend on the map) and the compass degree (which is marked on your HUD compass). Then input the angle into the mortar, and then the distance into the mortar calculator, which tells you the angle at which to fire, which you then set on the mortar.
You then choose which shell to use and fire. You can shoot like 12 rounds then you have to reload the mortar.
That would be the shit indeed. There need to be more realistic modern combat FPS games out there, and I think the Battlefield games have great potential to obtain that claim.
