BF3 sales
EA just released their financial earnings report, where they revealed that Battlefield 3 has shipped 15 million copies, making it the best selling Battlefield title to date. That’s a good $900 million at the box office, not counting in DLC sales and sales of online passes for used games. EA expects Battlefield 3 sales to reach 18 million by the end of the fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2013. Back in February, EA reported that Battlefield 3 has sold 10 million copies.

EA CEO John Riccitiello told analysts and shareholders that Battlefield 3 has managed to eat into Call of Duty’s market share for first person shooters. Riccitiello said, “Battlefield 3 took a very significant share from the leading competitor on its way to being one of the biggest selling titles in EA history”. EA also confirmed that Battlefield 3 will see DLC releases next month, this Fall and Winter as well.

The way I see that is like two sided blade! other side of the blade is 15 million people who will consider quite well near next Dice’s game…since BF3 was/is quite an unfinished and within BIG patch now even more unplayable/unjoinable… they took the time to change every single gun setting but they didn’t take them self time to fix simple bug like suicide when landing within open parachute on rock or of heavy damage near landing on simple plane terrain…or shooting blinds when close to an object/building/corner or always getting killed by laggy connection player (instead opposite), flares and ECM which one won’t work and other wont trigger…not to even mention all the weapon buggs… like this was made by one guy and not even ever tested… I know I will consider next Dice game buy quite well before they see my money again!

        here’s good news and it’s true :)

“Battlefield Premium will land you a number of content drops with unique in-game items not available anywhere else. First out it the one-of-a-kind Premium knife and black dog tag, plus a set of soldier camos, weapon camos, dog tag and assignments that will make sure you stand out and get more personalization options.”

Battlefield Premium is rumored to arrive on June 4th, a week prior to the release of Close Quarters on June 12th. These same sources also indicate that Battlefield 3 will be seeing a “Double XP Weekend” in May (Today/Tonight), similar to the double XP events that Call of Duty offers its players regularly.

Well, its technically true. Out of any other FPS that’s being actively Shipped to Retail, Supported by Patches/Post-Launch Content and reported about in Quarterly Income Conference Calls, Battlefield 3 is the best option.

Although, Tribes: Ascend is quite fun ^^

LOL really, I’m not sure what’s worse. Diablo 3, or Battlefield 3
          - Always-Online DRM
          - No Mod Tools (you get Banned for Modding even)
          - No LAN (remember how SCII cut LAN for Battle.net? Same story.)
          - no Competitive PvP (no Ranking, no Ladder, no Leaderboards)
          - Actually, they’re trying so hard just to get this thing out the door, PvP won’t even be there at Launch.
          - That ridiculous sick joke called Real Money Auction House
          - “It plays better with a Controller” (why don’t they just admit they’re working on Console Ports already? >.>) and a bunch of other stuff I can’t be assed to write down.
          - Oh right. The Berserker is carried over from Diablo 2, but it plays like a Warrior from WoW (NOT a good thing).

They’ve ripped out some of the best parts of D2 and turned it into a sick joke. Not to mention it should have been released almost two years ago. Bunch of morons incapable of even launching a Game on time.

Not quite sure how much Battlefield truly affected CoD. They still made over 1 Billion USD in 16 days with MW3, and Black Ops 2′s Pre-Orders are over 10 times Black Ops’ already. I’m sure it slowed it down a bit, but not anywhere near as much as he’s trying to make it seem.

Anyway. Another thing mentioned in the Conference Call was that there were 6.3 Million Active BF3 Users in March. With 15 Million Shipped, let’s say 13 Million Sold, that’s about 50% not active for an entire month. Disgruntled CoD Brats or just annoyed Customers (like BF2/2142 Vets maybe)?

Black Ops 2 is a huge joke. It’s just CoD’s attempt at ripping off BF 2142 and Halo. It really just goes to prove that you can brainwash ANYONE with one good game and continue to milk them every year for 9 years in a row. That’s why Battlefield 3 (and Battlefield all together) will always be than CoD no matter what they try to change and how many copy/paste copies of the game they sell.

The reaper drones, Stealth aircraft, Actually all the weapons and aircraft in that trailer can be identified as what we have (Most of them not manufactured yet) The only aircraft which i think is fake, is the very first one in the trailer Seems to be a commercial air craft,,, I know CoD is bad, but Know your facts First!!

It’s my opinion, but correct me if I’m wrong. Don’t you guys think it was actually MOST of the Call of Duty players, who messed up Battlefield. Now bare with me, they are mainly attracted to stylish kills, always using the best (Overpowered) weapon, their running and gunning tactics, always trying to troll… and NEVER play the objective. Now it’s basically being mimicked by every other player because it’s the only thing people do now. It’s like a disease. It really pisses me off when there’s 2-4 people actually playing and the rest screwing around. I miss when teams used team work and the matches were intense. Now it’s a ton of BS. Such as, “Killed by Admin./Banned from server”, Guns having too much recoil. I’m just fed up with it. I also hope DICE hurries up with this DLC. Seems like we need new maps. Oh, and MineCraft Xbox 360 Edition is out now, so I’m probably going to be hooked on that. You guys should get it.

The reason why theres so much CoD players in BF3 now a days is because DICE Advertised to the point where buses had advertisement of BF3 on them (Australia, back then) They were everywhere,in shops etc… CoD players gave it a chance and just F*#(*$ up the game with no teamwork at all, Not to mention a few 1000 CoD players will be joining when the new Crappiest DLC “Close quarters” Will come out
Ive stopped playing BF3 last month due to me and my friends constantly experiencing the “You have been disconnected from EA” Not to mention EVERY GUN has been changed to either OP (Dart) or un-usable,(Famas)
Im back to BFBC2 On PS3 with my friends :) Were people hand out ammo/med packs every where you go, Just a habit for BC2 I guess :)

Cod didn’t fuck up bf3, nor did dice
EA fucked Bf3 by being greedy, missing out key features from the prequel and by lying about what would be in it.

So they sold 15 million units, great.
Let’s see how much DLC they sell. I doubt many on pc will bother for a start as it won’t run on any server over 16 players.

As a pc player I can honestly say it’s a good game, but frankly I’m fuckin piss bored with it now.
The lack of new PC content is killing it as much as any bug.

Also the lack of any content for pc servers till the end of the year will finish the game. People just won’t be renting servers by then on the pc platform.

There isn’t any server over 16 player going to run close combat, so I think it’s safe to assume they plan to blow out pc gamers anyway.

I’d never preorder an ea game again, I think that’s what bf3 has taught me most.

Same with xbox dude. Since EA did not want to buy new servers for their new ‘Rent a server’ programme, they simply rented out the normal Dice ones. Now there are only 24/7 operation metro servers with 300% tickets and douche admins that kick whoever is going well. There are no longer normal DICE servers where u can actually play the ‘Normal game’. Greedy cunts

I remember the Caspian Border trailer, and Christ I was salivating for weeks just thinking of it. The part that really breaks my nerdy little gamer’s heart, is like you said, I think I ended up falling in love with the idea of falling in love with BF3.

The idea was nicer. I could probably have handled the last eight months or so a lot better had EA and DICE not blatantly, visibly, and unabashedly become just straight up crooks and fucking LIARS.

It’s the lies that get me. Lies, lies, then more lies, then excuses, and then more lies. I think I lost count of how many promises were made pre-launch simply because they sounded amazing on investor calls, when in reality they had no intention of ever implementing them.

I’m sure I’ll dabble the odd day here and about in BF2, or even in BC2 with some console friends. But yeah… RIP Battlefield.

It’s interesting to note that today Activision put out a little press barb of their own, confirming 10 million CoD Elite users, including 2 million paid subscriptions.

Now, there’s whole chapters worth of back-and-forth that could be discussed on that topic. But what struck me personally was that my first thought wasn’t OMG, 2 million idiots LOL.

It was “Good. Take that up your fuckin’ ass, Ricitiello. Keep screaming desperately at anyone who will cock their head in your direction about how amazing you think you are.”

Nah i think even the game on console would be better if they tried to make good games not good market share. Although ill receive hate, I dont think they can make a truly epic battlefield if the game is on console. I just think that any amount of effort put into 24 man maps and trying to change things to work on both platforms ultimately hurts both. If the game was only on pc it would be a better pc game. if it was only on console it would be a better console game. But mixing them makes a shittier game altogether.

this game would have been epic on either PC or consoles if they actually listened to the community on what we players wanted.

For F* sake. all they had to do was give us frostbite 2.0 on all of the old bf2 maps and no would be complaining about how weak the DLC is.

Ehh, the game really cant be epic if its released on both platforms. And when i mean epic i mean a game that is 10/10 like half life or something along those lines. But it can only really be epic on two platforms if they literally design the game twice and that. If dice used a great UI for pc it would be shitty for console. If dice only cared about 64 man conquest it would be great for pc not console. Honestly unless they did that, and things like that it will never beat bf2/1942.

On the contrary, I believe an excellent Multi-Platform game across all released Platforms is possible, regardless of what Platform is used as Lead. Of course, it would be more expensive and some things would have to be done differently, but it can be done.

When making a Console Port to PC, there’s 4 major things to keep in mind:
        - Controls – Everything from re-mappable Keybindings to none of that “it works better with a Controller” bullshit. I’m sick of hearing that when it comes to RPGs these days.
        - Settings – FoV Slider. FFS FOV SLIDER ZOMFG. So many FPSs miss this. Fortunately not Battlefield. Yet.
        - Graphics – High-Res Textures and/or latest DirectX Tech, in this case, DirectX 11. Battlefield 3 got this down very well, kudos DICE. Or well, “Blue Hue” apart.
        - User Interface – Consoles and PCs just CANNOT have the same UI. Its impossible. Look at Skyrim. The UI BLOWS. It literally sucks balls. Same thing with Battlefield and almost every other Multi-Platform Game. Solution? Separate Console and PC UIs.

Max Payne 3 and Bad Company 2 had/have separate Teams working on the PC Version and the Console Version, thus providing a more “Native” experience to the PC Users. They managed better Controls, Graphics, and Settings with BC2 PC. Even a slightly better UI. No idea about Max Payne 3, but the PC Version is getting DX11, so yeah. If Studios took some extra man power and effort to make a PC UI, we’d have a much better experience, even if its just a BF2/2142 UI Rip in BF3′s case. Zomg that UI was AWESOME. Some Games make up for this with Mod Tools, which of course, is something EA just doesn’t do anymore.

Of course, problems with re-sized 24 Player Maps would still exist, but in this case I blame the Map Team and poor supervision. In this regard, all Platforms got shafted, PCs with their poor 5 Objectives/24-Player Ported Maps, and Consoles with only 3 Objectives/24-Player Cap. Designing the Maps around 64-Players (or even really 32) would have provided a better experience on ALL Platforms I believe, allowing everyone to really just have an overall better experience with more Objectives, more Strategic Maps, and overall really just a better experience.

P.S. Developers also seriously need to learn/remember (since apparently they’ve forgotten) that launching a Patch across all Platforms at once is stupid, as the PC Version has no Approval Process it needs to go through, so delaying the PC Patch for 2 weeks (as most Games do) is just dumb-fucking(ly) retarded.

Eh, if you slapped in enough Mods it wasn’t that bad. Those Mod Door-stopper fixes were actually the saving grace for many I think. This time around we’re relying exclusively on DICE, no door stops, no nothing, so yeah, its a lot worse.

Their Patches are better, but the time between them is ridiculous, and this new Fad with Weapon Re-balancing creating a “Noob Weapon” every Patch is just /facepalm.

I gave up on DICE about a month into Battlefield 3. I noticed that it was made similar enough to Call of Duty but yet retain some battlefield values and be overall appealing to everyone. This is not a true Battlefield game and for you people who think it’s a true sequel it isn’t. It may be a good game but it’s not a Battlefield game. For those of you who disagree, explain lower health. Explain decreased respawn time. Explain vehicles that regenerate health. Explain Scope sway. Explain the dog tag system. Explain smaller maps and CLOSE QUARTERS DLC. And for those of you who say, “Ooo but we get big vehicle based maps later on.” It doesn’t matter. There are two reasons why this is leaning to Call of Duty players. One, why is THIS dlc being released first out of the other 3? Two, DICE should’ve never even considered making a dlc like this in the FIRST PLACE. This game is just for making a larger profit without giving a shit about their fanbase like they used too. For now i’ll be heading back to Battlefield 2 and Bad Company 2. DICE I am dissapointed, and EA….sigh.

First i agree with your comments. Second they are releasing the close quarters dlc first because the cod kids have a short attention span. They know that these cod kids will lose interest if it is later released, they will be so excited about their yearly ctrl+c/ctrl+v game that they will forget. Although you know as well as i do we will still be here waiting for armored kill regardless how pissed we are with their shitty decisions.

You realism people kill me. You cry when a shotgun kills you at greater than 10m in one shot. Yet you would hate the game if they made it a simulator. remember battlefield kinda is a arcade shooter in the sense that it was built for fun not realism.

it’s dead for the people who loved BF2, which was about real team work and had a great day 1 commo rose system, bigger squads and a commander option. And where no one had to be told PTFO or stop camping, because it made no sense due to the size of the maps.

        As I mentioned before……

“What kills me about BF3 is how they have 6+ years of play testing from BF2 and yet it seems like they just threw all that out the window for BF3. I have no doubt that this game is nothing more than a console port.”

Battlefield 3 Estimated Sales: 13 Million. Number of Players Active in the Month of March 2012: 6.3 Million.

Yeah, you’re totally right. 99.99% of the Players are Actively playing. There’s just that small 1% that unfortunately just couldn’t find the time, you know? Oh, and the disgruntled BF2 Vets/CoD Fanboys which went back to MW3….. LOL.

“EA CEO John Riccitiello told analysts and shareholders that Battlefield 3 has managed to eat into Call of Duty’s market share for first person shooters. Riccitiello said, “Battlefield 3 took a very significant share from the leading competitor on its way to being one of the biggest selling titles in EA history”

    Let me get this straight…

EA fucked over Battlefield, it’s loyal paying customers, Battlefield’s reputation, and possibly every new Battlefield game to come…all for a tiny chunk of CoD’s market share?

Unfortunately, Battlefield is now becoming like the rest of today’s games on the market; made for greed, used for greed, and will eventually die by greed.

I have to admit, EA has been sticking its dick into good games and Designers for a long time now. But do you really have to blame poor ol Dice for all of this? Remember children, this is the same company that made 1942-2142 and so on. Now imagine if EA didnt go rouge and let the DEV teams finish the game as they saw fit? Also, to you PC Gam– Wait, the PC Gamers I used to know, stop assuming that you are the only gamers that have half a brain cell. I can think of thousands of Xbox and Playstationieers that are older than 12, can think, play fair, use teamwork, and all that good stuff. Your making yourselves seem to be stuck-up, immature, rude, bitchy little asshats shitting on your hands and calling it chocolate. NOTE: This is my opinion.

Judging from how Crytek went from Crysis 1 PC Gods to Crysis 2 Terri-Bad PC Porters and Epic Games went from PC Gods to Cliffy B’s “SCREW YOU, FUCKING WANKER PIRATES” bullshit, DICE would have probably shoved us full of the same shit independently, but the difference would be, just like Epic Games and Crytek, they’d have a chance to redeem themselves after realizing how pathetic they truly became.

Now on the other hand, they’re EA’s bitches, for life. Can’t change that. Sure, Bungie split from Microsoft, but Microsoft kept the Halo IP.

Besides, not really. Its the same Management from BF1942-BF3 (at least for DICE) but its not the same Developers. I know quite a few older DICE Devs are working on DUST 514, then there’s that one Studio they bought out to work on BF2 and then fired, etc. etc. etc.

I want to see the stats on which platform generated the most revenue vs. which platform has the largest regular playerbase (after all of the bullshit they’ve put us through).

Somehow, it wouldn’t surprise me if the largest revenue stream came from all the CoD kiddies begging their parents for BF3 on their Xbox, realising that its not CoD and you need to PTFO, and shitcanning it in favour of MW3.

To my knowledge BF3 barely sold a million on PC and that was mostly due to hype and EA lies that had us veterans convinced it was going to be an actual Battlefield game. BF3 is now the best selling in the series, so this shit is only going to go downhill from here. BF is officially dead. Fuck EA, fuck consoles, fuck all of you who made this happen by supporting this cancerous shit.

The guy above me is exactly why I don’t like playing on Consoles. Come back in five years, when you can actually spell properly, and when you actually qualify for the PG15 ESRB Rating.

The other guy – Its sold more than a Million on PC. Last per-Platform Sales breakdown we had was with I believe less than half of what its sold now, they were breaking down Week 1 Physical Sales, so the majority of the PC Sales were excluded, as there were no Origin Sales numbers.

If we have enough people “air” these guys out, they’ll have no choice but to act on it once the cats out the bag on a major site that could publicly hurt their revenue. http://www.ign.com/news-tips.html this is the site I used. EA?Dice “hyped” this game so much no wonder it was such a let down.
Then they delay and delay and delay a patch that should have never been applied,it fixed a few cheat glitches, and broke a whole lot more.
Then they anounce DLC,and it is small “run and gun” COD size maps, that just happen to be the destructable enviroment they said the “WHOLE “game would have.MaxPayne 3 comes out in about two week’s for the PC,in a couple days for consoles,I’ll be saying farwell to stupid suppression and M26 Darts on the 29th. Ghost Recon:Future Soilder comes out in june 22nd for PC I’ll be getting that too,and wont for sure look back at Brokenfield 3.
