M26 mass
True to the Battlefield spirit, the latest Battlefield 3 patch fixed a lot of thing, but it also included a few bugs on its own. And you have most likely come across that bug while playing the game: the M26 MASS attachment for the assault class is way overpowered due to a glitch. When the M26 is equipped with DART ammunition and the underslung grenade launcher, each dart deals full damage of the main rifle. Which means instant-kills across most ranges.

But DICE is aware of the issue, and according to Gustav Halling (via Twitter), the M26 glitch will be fixed in an upcoming patch. However, he didn’t give a timeline as to when we can expect the patch. Needless to say, the patch can’t come soon enough, as the M26 glitch is getting out of hand already. Given how long it took for previous patches to be released, it looks like we’ll have to live with this for a little while.

The patch will probably come out with the next DLC (June)… BTW I’ve read that this bug with the M26 Dart existed since the release.

Do you guys think EA is trying to wear DICE out, so they could get stressed and think about selling the game to another company (EA)?
EA has sure been suspicious with DICE, since Battlefield has been successful lately, but EA has been bringing it down…

EA owns DICE, which means EA pretty much has full rights to Battlefield. EA just tells DICE what to do and DICE does it.

If I’m correct DICE was even developing Battlefield 1942/ BF2 / 2142 while they were owned by EA (correct me if I’m wrong).

EA just really screwed over Battlefield when they decided that it would be the end of all time if CoD came out before BF3.

DICE was independent before 2142. I believe after Battlefield 1942, EA made it their goal to fully acquire DICE. Honestly, DICE has lost alot of their freedom though.

Interesting thing: DICE used to make Pinball games.

EA forced DICE to rush a half finished game out the door which means Battlefield is most likely not as stable as the developers wanted it to be. This means more bugs from the start, more problems down the road from things such as patches, and so on.

The patches themselves take time to develop. But coding 3 patches for 3 different systems on a rushed game? That takes even more time. Pile on the demand from players for a patch on top of that and DICE not wanting them to have to wait too long; of course bugs are going to rise.

If DICE takes time to make a quality patch three systems; people complain it’s taking too long and complain that we need a patch stat. If they rush it out the door and it ends up causing more problems than it fixes; people complain.

Can’t we just learn to be patient and let them properly fix things?

Nice points sir if you are a battle vet since BF1942 you’ll also know that every BF series game has always been buggy before EA was their making impossible deadlines it’s just the consequences of pushing the limits of current technology. But back when the BF series first started at least the gamers themselves could try and help the devs with mod tools and such. Now all the time is wasted on finding ways to cheat. People just seem to remember the golden years of BF2 long after the first 2 years of at sometimes an unplayable game full of glitches. I’m pretty sure that BF2 was the reason I had to put my favorite rig I ever owned (it being the first one that i built by myself) it contracted the HPV virus among every STD from A to Z. I found that BF Vietnam was the most complete BF title to ever be released with the least amount of issues and bugs

Hotfixes. If games that are bigger and more intense code-wise and resource-wise like WoW and all other MMOs can release small patches quickly to fix major issues, DICE can do it too. There’s no excuse other than lazy developers that don’t care about their playerbase.

See how many people buy BF4 when it’s released, because I’m willing to bet it’s going to be few in comparison to BF3.

no kidding, why can’t they take their time on the patches and for game breaking bugs/exploits/etc. just release a quick hot fix….so ya know the game will be playable. Instead, we have to wait probably till the next dlc for a “quality” patch along with the m26 fix, and by that time more players have gotten frustrated and dropped off. Again another instance where the community dwindles.

If something is overpowered not useing it like everyone else is just an issue of pride, gimping yourself so you can feel better with an i flated since of prise is not going to help your team win. Random idea… Why not send out a “Pre-Test” patch. It would work best for PC, but it would help find any other glitches that would come from it. They could fix them before it “Officially” is released to both PC and Console. Because both seem to share the same glitches.

It would save DICE and the community lots of time and money that comes from short or blind patches they release.

It would have to update every time they fix ONE thing at a time. Then if the “Pre-test” public says “Yo, dawg. This part of the patch would brake (blaw blaw).” this way they can fix it before EVERYONE has to deal with it. A larger public looking at the patches peace by peace would help DICE find and fix it faster then they have been.

I don’t know its just an idea, if you want to add onto it just say something.

Didn’t they do something like this with Battlefield 2142? I remember a “beta” patch which contained the Battlefield 2142 version of Highway Tampa.

On a side note; why can’t they update things via origin similar to how Steam updates games? On Steam, if one little thing goes wrong with a game they can do a minor update which automatically downloads. The problem gets fixed quickly and it’s not a massive pain in the rear to the players.

Surely they could do it with Origin.

For server-side issues, Origin is fine. But it’s a piece of shit for everything else. It doesn’t directly interface with the game, so it can’t be used to patch directly. Just another unnecessary step made by EA to compete with a random game studio.

the game contains many weapons each with different traits such as accuracy damage etc.. coding all of this is really a monumental effort. People seem to have no clue what making a game like this entails the work DICE has to actually put in to create a game that is this expansive. This is not MW that gets copied and pasted and is simply just an expansion patch of the other with new skins. For any1 who has actually written simple C, JAVA programs should know that while u may have 1500 lines of code if you make adjustments in one area it can often cause unexpected results that adjusts or affects a whole different area of code. Now DICE has to patch the game but its extremely hard to do extensive patches and updates without causing something else to go wrong.

Didnt say anything technical 0_0. Its hundreds of millions of lines of code. After making changes to anything its hard to check everything to make sure its in working order and even then there will always be bugs. The Alpha test is over and so is the BETA technically the only BETA there is now consist of we the BF3 community that finds problems and report them to DICE when we play. All games and software have glitches and I am just saying that the game has so much weapons and stuff its bound to have issues. Thats nt that hard to imagine now is it?

Nope. Most big programs utilize a sub-version control or separate functions that subvert any errors that come from editing the software. The reason bugs are made in large programs is due to shitty QA teams that can’t do a proper bug report.

thats crap i whent 99 – 6 :) just saying i am not ashamed of using a glitch especially when me and my mates always get stuck with useless cod noobs who camp with their sniper rifles not much help on conquest or any other game type for that it leaves me and maybe 2 or 3 overs trying to win the game on our own and when its like that hell yeah i bust out the mass glitch..

“True to the Battlefield spirit, the latest Battlefield 3 patch fixed a lot of thing, but it also included a few bugs on its own.”

Sorry, but name me ONE item that dice actually “fixed” on PC with the last patch?

    Tweaks? yes, FIXES no.

It partly fixed the MAV, which was fixed right after.
      Fixed ramming, kind of.
      Fixed the L96.

It made a nice bunch of guns not useless anymore.

Heck, I’d even be ready to say that the gun balance is pretty much alright now(except for glitches). Pre-patch the G3, the L85, the Scar were useless. The only prob I see ATM is with the silencer rendering the guns utterly useless even at med range.

Most people complaint about the previous patch because it changed things so they had to change and don’t like it. Many guns needed rebalancing.

And before someone says they could have done it pre-launch. You have to wait to see what truly is OP. Just look at the L85 since the patch. At the beginning, it was prolly the most used AR, but now, most went back to other guns, namely the M16 and the AEK.

No word on the huge unbalanced between air and ground?
Stingers are useless, MAA gets killed within seconds from out of it’s range by both jets and helicopter… constant ECM jammerspam and gunnerflares on top of that…

Actually, I would say its more air being underpower against anything with two missiles.

      HEre is the procedure

      1- Lock on
      2- Shoot 1 missile
3- Wait for 5 seconds after flares
4- Shoot second missiles, since you lock hasn’t been broken
      6- Profit!

In the mean time, a warning and a kick will have to suffice. At least, thats what it comes to on my server.

Most of you are saying this game is terrible. If you hate it so much that you must constantly bash it, maybe you should stop playing and sell your game.

We have 2 dedicated servers on PC, both are not getting renewed and going offline next month.

€450 for 6 months is how much it costed me, dice screwed the pc side of this cod style game.

M26 Dart,Mass etc is out of hand?
DICE says: We will patch this…
*Sometime later when the patch is released in the future*
“I try the M26 to see how nerfed it got”
*INGAME*:Takes 3 shots to kill someone close range… Guess they nerfed it to much, just like the USAS-12, Famas
Oh wow i got killed by a weapon so fast!
*Community of BF finds out a new OP weapon*
    Months later DICE Patches it…
weeks after the patch: Oh look the weapon that they patched has over rated recoil and does minimal damage, Oi look this weapon is OP,DICE Better patch it!!!

This is how DICE and BF3 will die, sad but im guessing from all the patches we had, its gonna be true :(
Also like to mention… F*Ck you EA with your SH*T SERVERS!!!

We’ll see if its truly that if they make any major changes to guns, since IMHO, the balance seems quite alright.

Also, the Dart glitch doesn’t work if you only use the gun itself, it requires a combination of attachments I won’t tell here. On its own its an absolute POS, the M26 should pretty much always be used with buckshot.

They’re trying to BALANCE the game.
They don’t want it to be like COD where one gun rules all. eg scar on MW2 and the one on WaW whos name escapes me… MP45?
Those guns were left OP and everyone used them to death.
I’m glad they’re balancing but agree that it should have been balanced from the start.
