BF3 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

The upcoming Battlefield 3 DLC Close Quarters is, as the name suggests, based on close quarter infantry maps. The initial spec sheet from DICE revealed player sizes of 2-16, which felt kinda small. Now we have the first screenshot of a Close Quarters map, showing the map layout. And it does look very small.
I guess the new vehicles will include office chairs and mail carts.

cod4 was great i hope we get maps like those……….everyone please stop crying!! there is more than ONE way to play a game!!
Ironic statement, considering in this DLC pack, there isn’t. It’s just gonna be more spazoids getting their twitch on bombing around corners and freaking out with foregrips and suppressors and frag rounds, on maps castrated back from anything even remotely resembling anything reminiscent of what makes (or made) Battlefield, Battlefield.

I know I posted something about everyone having their own prefrences on the DLC announcement that BF3blog put up, but I never knew these maps were THIS tiny. I was expecting something more like a Karkand ‘style’ layout, where its not all cramped and yet where its still fairly small.
This…this is just… this is smaller than Call of Duty maps.

No matter what kind of game type you play “spazoids” are going to use what they want. Just get over it and do what you are supposed to do; adapt to the changes of the field, it is about time that dice introduced Cqc. I believe that these new maps are going to be noting like cod, because battlefield allows the user to fully interact with the field, and in cod the most one can do is blow up a car or shoot a tv.
we are still waiting to play the Battlefield way (big maps, spaced out flags & voip), now they bring out a midget sized map pack… this has to be some sort of sick joke

You’d hope they’d do COD4: Modern Warfare maps… but no… these are Modern Warfare 2/3 garbage maps.
No more money from me DICE. But then again, I’m not putting more money into this game until there’s VOIP. (PC)
I’m a console player, and I can personally say that console maps are NOT *THIS* tiny. I’ve even seen Call of Duty maps bigger than this, which is just ridiculous.

Thousands of people *bought* sega games when they came out and enjoyed them… would exact copies of those games pass as “good” given the new technology of today? I doubt it.
The reason CoD4 was so good is because it was fresh. DICE attempting to clone it 6 years later is just pathetic and lazy, and most importantly, not going to work.
While I did buy and love COD4.. there was 2 factors that pulled me out of COD. First, the sequels were not as good. W@W/MW2/MW3 were terrible (and that came down to Map design in the end). The main factor, was that it just got stale. I rather enjoyed Black Ops, but I probably only put 40 hours into it. A big drop from COD4.
These maps, seem to be the worst of both worlds… small circular hallway crap like what you get in MW3.. its so painful to play.

We don’t need small maps, we need congested maps… Maps don’t need to be the size of CoD maps to be considered “close quarters” maps.
Even at the moment, operation metro isn’t really a close quarters map, it has huge lines of sight and almost no flank routes… It is just a small map.
Close quarters maps should be things like entire desert village towns, huge shopping centers or oil-rig complexes in the middle of the ocean… things with lots of flank routes, very small areas and choke points that work together to create a large map… not a blocked off segment of an indoor building, which is what CoD does, and judging by the pathetic map picture, and short video, what DICE is trying to replicate.
This is DLC is nothing new, if you wanted that style of gameplay all you had to do was play TDM instead of Conquest, the maps would section off areas to make it more closequaters. I hope this DLC is cheap or they at least make a DLC pack of just the weapons, because they can keep these cheap maps.
What do you mean other Close Quarters DLC, there’s only one. The other DLC are called Armor Kill, and End Game, which aren’t coming til Fall. I’m excited for Armor Kill DLC which includes new vehicles and the largest map ever created in BF3.
You guys do know that this is a screenshot from a TEAM DEATHMATCH game right? There’s a good chance that the maps are actually larger in Conquest and Rush mode.

Most likely 10$ I’m thinking actually. Between it not being an Expansion Pack and not being a Call of Duty DLC (even though it seems it’ll have CoD Content) they can’t price it at 15$ anymore. They used the “Expansion Pack” excuse to price BtK at 15$, but the average AAA Game DLC is priced at 10$. Personally can’t see potential even non-CoD Weapons being worth 10$ but eh.
Looks like most of us will be spending around 20$ on DLC for BF3, between getting BtK for free with Pre-Orders and most likely skipping over CQ. Assuming they don’t do something crazy like make End Game a Campaign DLC or a Co-Op DLC, in which case it would drop to 10$.

This is actually exactly what I wanted. After playing through the co-op and blasting away through office buildings, I wanted office building type matches multiplayer.
Its small because that might just be one floor of several . . . or really big rooms.
Yeah me too, at first I totally rejected the idea, but I wouldn’t mind having some close quarter maps as long as they release some open ones. Just so people with different play styles can play where they belong. Seems logic.

^^This. Come on people. Give it a chance. We didn’t see the whole map, so why is everyone complaining about it? Maybe there are huge open areas near the buildings where you can snipe. But I think it will be great. The co-op maps are very intens so I think this would be greater. Come on. Take a deep breath and get into it!!!!
What exactly is the purpose of a class system when you introduce shoebox maps? You won’t have time to do anything before you get rammed by a RPG anyway.
But I guess we just gotta adjust to this new brainwashed CoD sheep crowd “targeted audience”. This is truly the downfall of the Battlefield series. Congrats to DICE/EA for ruining another great franchise.

Yeah, in 6 months. The appeal of DLC is that it comes out throughout the year, appeasing your cravings for something new. Waiting 6 more months is like waiting for BC3. I’m getting tired of waiting.

To the people complaining about them ruining Battlefield 3: Why don’t you just not buy the expansion, and instead wait until Armoured Kill?
I think the thing you should realize is that every map is a different game, and because they made one DLC pack into a COD ripoff, the world isn’t gonna end.
I seriously cannot figure out why anyone would be complaining. It’s a DLC pack, they’re cratering it to the CoD players so they can lure them in and keep them. They’re not changing the game. If you want to play Operation firestorm, they’re not removing anything, they’re not making this into CoD.
Battlefield won’t just become CoD overnight, stop being paranoid. Last time I checked, Call of duty doesn’t have /any/ vehicles, classes, or destruction. So calm down.
Battlefield players have supported the franchise for years, while everyone else has been playing CoD. This CoD-esque DLC, along with leaving the community in the dark for the last 4 months to work on said DLC, might be interpreted by people as EA/Dice turning their backs on the community to bring the “enemy” over.
All of that aside, they promised a certain amount of post-launch support, which hasn’t happened. When 1/4th of the DLC they are releasing is more bullshit, people aren’t going to be singing Dice praise.
I can understand that, but it’s a logical business decision to try to uncrown the king of FPS games; and the only way they’ll do that is if they give people who love CoD things to make them able to enjoy BF3.
I don’t really like the fact we’re only getting 3 DLC packs this year, but I’m perfectly happy as long as they’re as fun as BtK!
People seriously need to get over this, starting with EA. CoD isn’t going to get uncrowned. WoW isn’t going to get uncrowned either. CoD is going to get stale and die out, just like how Activision killed Guitar Hero. That’s it. Just like WoW is getting dull and old and losing Subscribers, CoD is going to get dull, tedious and boring. Eventually. Until then, its not going to be dethroned. Its a Multi-Billion Dollar IP. Its not going anywhere but up right now.
Battlefield is nothing like CoD. It cannot compete with CoD. EA would have a better (and it would SERIOUSLY be smarter) shot at making Medal of Honor compete with CoD on an Annual basis rather than Battlefield. A Game with Physics and Strategy cannot compete with “Point and Shoot” Games because they attract different crowds. EA are morons to think the 9 year olds who think MW3 is the best Game ever are going to trade it in for BF3. Actually, I hope they don’t, because when they do, they’ll just nail another coffin into this Franchise.

There is so much wrong with this sentence, its unbelievable. First off, do you have any idea what we were promised for Battlefield 3? A true Battlefield 2 Sequel. Pull up a Poll, ask the Battlefield 2 Veterans: “Did you get a true Sequel to Battlefield 2?” Or don’t, I can answer that for you: No, we did not. Why?
Because EA ruined it to appeal to the CoD Crowd and to Mainstream the Franchise for extra profits. Operation Metro Rush Beta? Step 1. Lack of Commander, 6-Player Squads, a useful Commo Rose (we had to complain about that to no end before we got it, and since they put some moron in charge of it, most of its usefulness is still missing because the Patch which was supposed to implement the fixes is still missing), Mod Tools and a bunch of other features. Step 2. Upcoming CoD Map based DLC. Step 3. Step 4? Oh wait, we already did this one – Fail to deliver stated things (In this case, February Patch). Not to mention lack of Communication in general. DICE never had a great Patching record, actually, one BF2 Patch broke the Game, but this manages to beat even that.
What did we get? Mainstreaming. Accessibility. Fancy Graphics plagued with terrible Color Palettes in the form of different (but terrible) shades of Blue. We even have a blue Minimap ffs. Oh right, Hardcore Mode. Yeah, now if only Lone Wolf play wasn’t an option at least there…. Oh wait, it is.
The Game is dying, and instead of working on Armored Fury they’re working on attracting more CoD people to it. How exciting for me! Not.

2 players? How? Now, if I want to join a server, it always makes me wait for 7 other players. (ps3) I would be happy if they just gave us the private match option. Then, I could play with a couple friends and make this game fun again. I’m sure by June tho, I’ll have moved on
I have done 2 players before (PS3) What you do is have enough players to start the match in the lobby and if it’s a quiet one or something, people will leave so you’re left with a few other members, me and my mate were alone and we looked around at the beautiful scenery that gets overlooked in the middle of the Battlefield.. but yes, a private match option would be ideal..

it looks small and its 4 month away *sigh*,i mean c’mon dice i play battlefield for vehicles and huge maps, if i wanted this kind of shit i would play call of shit, still gonna buy though -_- only for the weapons and probably tags, but mostly weapons.
This little map could be fun with super small teams. 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3… but it seems it will only be team deathmatch…which I never play…
