Battlefield 3 conquest domination
Battlefield 3′s upcoming DLC, Close Quarters, includes four new maps, several new weapons, and a new game mode: Conquest Domination. Since Close Quarters maps are so small, the Rush mode won’t be supported. Instead, players will get to try out Conquest Domination, which is similar to the “Domination” mode from Unreal Tournament. Conquest Domination is suited for the small, infantry-focused maps of Close Quarters, and will rely on the spawn system from Team Deathmatch. DICE says about the new mode in a new blog post:

“In particular, flag defense is suddenly more important, and you get different tactical layers due to the subtle differences the new mode provides.”

Close Quarters will ship this June. Price is yet to be announced.

Hmmm… if the spawn system is based on the team deathmatch one, don’t forget to look behind you every 5 seconds.

@ikillzombs You’re right. Because cod was the first game to ever use the word “domination” as a game mode. You know, because it doesn’t say in the article that it’s similar to Unreal Tournament’s mode. Should bf3 not have m16′s or any other gun that cod had in its game too? Guess not.

I would love for you to tell me how rush would work on these maps. Rush makes the map bigger every time a base is destroyed, but since the maps are so small, that’s impossible to do. I don’t understand how you weren’t able to figure that out…it’s basic common sense…

well they should install doors that open when a base is captured or have different floors for different bases, they dont need to just exclude rush from the new maps. in fact, on close quarters maps like metro and bazar on rush, ive observed a greater amount of teamwork than on any of the other game modes

Yeah, but then it wouldn’t be close quarters. Sure, it’d still be confined, but the maps would still be big, and they don’t want that with this DLC. They’re appealing to everybody, stop bitching. Yes, i know EA/DICE lied about the aggressive DLC plan, and yes, I know they’re not the best right now, but just be happy you’re getting something. If you’re not happy, then don’t buy it, simple as that. No need to continuously complain.

Please go back to BF2 so we don’t have to listen to you whine. If DICE catered to fools like you, we’d never see any groundbreaking gameplay. The great thing about BF3 is its incredible variety, and these upcoming DLC’s only follow that line of thought. Don’t be short-sighted and make easy comparisons to MW3 — Close Quarters will eclipse that, and be a lot of fun. After that we’ll get vehicles, and after that who knows what. But one thing I’m sure of is that your opinion is nothing more than that, and only reflects the folks that we probably always mute in-game. Get a life.

Wow, you seriously have no idea what you’re talking about do you? Rush is a Bad Company Game Mode. If DICE was catering exclusively to the BF2 Crowd, first off, you most likely wouldn’t be here, and secondly, we wouldn’t have Rush either, so he wouldn’t be here either.

P.S. “groundbreaking gameplay” I’m not quite sure what you’re calling groundbreaking, but BF3 is not Groundbreaking. Battlefield 1942 was groundbreaking. The Multi-Player it provided was unique. Battlefield 2 was slightly groundbreaking, introducing new features etc. Battlefield 3 is not groundbreaking. In any way. It was great, now its good, but its not innovating the FPS market with anything that hasn’t been done before, either by them or by someone else.

You’d think DICE would at least try to be subtle when they completely rip a game mode from Call of Duty… Whats next? “Squad Search and Destroy”?

Seriously, if I have to put up with TDM spawns while I play these maps DICE needs to fix them or I will not buy it.

Double Domination isn’t a CoD Game Mode, it can be found in both UT2003 and UT2004, its more of an “Old School Shooter” Mode tbh. At the least, yes, it can definitely be tagged as “Arcade”, but its not a CoD: MW creation.

Reading the blog post though, I came across some interesting statements
      -
“The closest you come to this type of tight combat scenario in Battlefield 3 is on Operation Métro. We know this is one of our most popular maps” –
I wonder what kind of Statistics are possibly telling him that, all the Conquest Rotations I’ve ever done have excluded it completely. They do seem to want to sell this as a “Conquest” Mode after all, so I doubt they’re looking at say, Rush Statistics are they? >.>

In another part right after that, they get into details about “really, really small pieces” so I guess Micro Destruction is confirmed as the “HD Destruction” feature we’ve been told about. They were inspired by the Matrix Lobby shoot-up scene. Good Movie.

On the TDM Spawning – BF3 TDM Spawning works with fixed locations chosen by a Menu by the Player, meaning this DD Mode won’t be featuring the same Spawning System as UT2004 DD, but it’ll quite likely end up working out.

“Creating my own HD Destruction timelapse video” – Hm. BattleRecorder?

I need to add this much to the end though – Double Domination was created for a completely different type of Game compared to Battlefield. To make it work on here they’ll have to do some Modifications, for example, to the Weapon line-ups – First couple of Comments are pointing out something important –
“Neo and Trinity didn’t have RPGs. If you removed all explosives in this game mode, it could be a lot of fun. But as long as there is RPGs and grenade launchers, I just don’t see this being fun.”
      -
“This game mode has the potential to get spammy. Please remove rpg, smaw, m320 etc, it will be like metro all over, it just isn´t fun to play anymore. Make it tactical please! I don’t want to spawn and take a step to die.”

To expand, also in reply to some other Posts here –

        - There won’t be Vehicles. Far too small. Plus, its indoors. Maybe something funny like a Mail Cart or something (they did have that Forklift in BtK) but no Choppers, Tanks, Jets, etc. No.

        - The TDM Spawn System should allow you to choose where you want to Spawn, difference with Conquest Classic is your options are more limited. Options may change depending on if you control which Objective however, which will add to the List. Ensuring someone doesn’t spawn behind you however will likely be entirely up to you being in the right place.

        - Far as how Tickets will work, I think YouAreTheOneNeo has it down. In UT2K DD you need to hold both Objectives for a set period of time in order to score. In CQD you’ll probably hold them to raise your Ticket count up until a set cap. Could also be you don’t lose any Tickets as long as you hold both Objectives, but I think the first is more likely.

        - Likely it’ll stick to 2 Objectives on both Consoles and PCs due to the small amount of Players. They might experiment with 3, but 3 would probably feel weird and likely be too much for 8v8.

        - Quick Scoping may also be a potential issue, along with Explosives and RPGs… >..< If it helps, ignore the "Conquest" label they're sticking to it. Think of it as just good old Double Domination, but modified.

Actually, there are a ton of 24/7 Operation Metro high ticket 64 player servers out there for one reason only. PPM. Even if you’re on the losing team your PPM will be better than playing in any other mode. So there are a ton of these servers out there for people who want to rank up fast… So their statistics of that being one of the most popular maps is correct.

Making maps to get the COD crowd to BF3 will encourage camping.

I dont know if you played MW3 or not, but the maps are small, and crammed full of shit that basically funnels players to certain areas. Thats why so many cod players (not all) will stick to one area and wait for someone to run to you. In COD, you can stick to one part of the map and get kills. Thats why I like BF3 over MW3. If you sit in one spot, you wont get much action….unless your playing Conquest Metro style.

These new maps will be played like COD with COD players. Therefor just making camping and rocket/noobtube spamming inevitable. Keep COD COD and BF3 BF3. Thats why so many people prefer 1 over the other. I doubt anyone wants the 2 blended together

@The_Fun_Police Excellent post. Exactly how I feel about it.

I’ll most likely pass on this DLC, unless it’s really cheap, because it seems like we’re getting skimped. I don’t see why the smaller game modes like TDM wouldn’t have sufficed for close quarters action. The buildings could have been one base in Rush, and then treated exactly the same for TDM. It just seems like they wanted to get DLC out quickly, so they cranked up the Destruction and called it “variety.”

I know players want something different (obviously), and I couldn’t blame them even if I tried…but people need to keep in mind what DICE is trying to do.

DICE in a question & answer during BF3 development stated that BF2 was designed as a “play our way or don’t play at all.” DICE went on to say that with Battlefield 3, they were aiming to get themselves away from that “our way or the highway” with Battlefield 3. They basically designed BF3 to appeal to a wider player base.

This DLC is designed to appeal to the people who like this type of game play, and to give Battlefield something new and different. Do the majority of us like it? No. But some people do.

If you don’t like it, then it’s understandable, but keep in mind that Armored Kill is going to be the next DLC, and End Game most likely won’t feature something like this.

In the end, DICE is just trying to give a little something to everyone.

Again you’re right, its new blood put into the game. Some people will get it just for the guns or to just try it out. Some will like it, others not so much.
What I want. Like I said in another post once.

A map filter, whether it be choice of specific maps or size. If I get this and don’t like some of the maps then I don’t want to have to back out of a match when, If I end up with good teammates. I always end up having to leave a game when I get into a map I dislike.

Just a map filter, is all I ask.

    More on topic from my last post;

I really wish they weren’t going with the TDM style spawning system. If the maps were designed right, they could use a normal conquest spawning system…a TDM spawn system simply doesn’t seem very ideal for flag defense games, but I suppose that’s why “flag defense is suddenly more important”

I actually wouldn’t mind the TDM spawning system IF and ONLY IF they fix 2 things. Spawn protection time needs to be 3 or 4 seconds if you don’t move or shoot. And no spawning in peoples damn iron sights.

If they limit spawning to areas where your team has control or a small area at either end of the map then yeah, it could work. If it really is more like UT than CoD then I think I might actually enjoy this, but only if i’m playing on a server with autoadmin rules of No RPG / M320 and No Shotguns.

Why take explosives away though? That will make it more intense. When I would play UT2004 DD.. some one would use the Redeemer and everyone would be screwed.. but it didn’t mean fun stopped. Now picture this in your head. You are playing one of the maps here and your capturing the flag. If someone starts to shoot RPGs then you gotta change your strategy. In mist of all the action you gotta be ready for the threat approaching. If you take the enemy down then success but if not then try again.

Just like with Conquest Assault, they should make this Conquest Domination a separate game mode that can be selected as its own game type, as opposed to mixing it in with the standard Conquest mode. At least make some servers with only Conquest, Conquest Assault, etc.

Alternatively, allow all maps support the Assault and Domination variant in the Conquest game mode, and not just maps to their respective DLC. For example, there should be a Conquest Assault mode for Caspian Border, and Conquest Domination for Metro.

I hope the close quarters dlc sells extremely well. This way DICE will continue making small maps, and take out vehicle warfare.

Then I will laugh as the Battlefield series is nothing more than another COD clone that sucks anyways. Hahahahahah

Looks like the only difference is we won’t have the choice of what flag to spawn on.

If the map pack is so fucking bad, why people worry about it. No one forces you to buy it. If You don’t like it, you shouldn’t spend money on it. If it really is that bad, I ain’t gonna buy it either. Simple, ha?

Pc players play and rent 64 player servers

A 16 player map pack really fucks us off frankly
Especially those renting 64 slot servers

How the fuck are they Going to run this map pack
They should have built bigger versions of this and scaled down to suit the consoles
It’s bad news for pc players and Fukin bad news for those renting 64 slot servers
So much for pc being the main platform and the “aggressive” DLC program
Promised (for pc players) was a blatant Fukin lie

CoD is always going sell more because it’s bought by the average consumer and the average consumer is an idiot.

LOLOL Close quarters like COD? PShhh keep dreaming whoever said that…

…It basically reflects some of the CO-OP / Campaign missions given in BF3. However they just made it so its a mode for multiplayer.

Furthermore, i reckon they should chuck in CTF soon :)

you are an idiot, returning the game would bring back less than half what you payed for. Best game out? No, not by a long shot. You were close cause you said skyrim and that beats bf3 easily. They should of released close quarter last since hey most of the maps are close quarter.
