BF3 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Good news, everyone! According to DICE (via Twitter), the new Battlefield 3 patch is currently in certification at Microsoft and Sony, which means the patch is complete and only awaits the go-ahead from the console makers. Of course, the PC patch could be released earlier, but DICE likes to update all three platforms at the same time.
Last time a patch was in the certification stage, we saw it released approximately one week later, which means — fingers crossed — we could see the new Battlefield 3 patch released next week.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy a patch is coming. But it pisses me off to read that PC gamers finally get a patch because DICE decided to wait for the patch to get cleared on other platforms.
DICE, get your heads out of your asses and take advantage of the particular platforms you’re developing for. If a platform has motion controls, easier certification, 3D, etc… then take advantage of that instead of treating them all the same. Everyone loses with this development model.
Agreed. You want to show you still do PC Lead? Prove it. Patch us through without waiting for the Console Patches.

b) Why can’t you just release the damn patch already. If it’s ready to be released, then release it. We’ve been waiting long enough for you to pull your fingers out your asses, and if the consoles require bullshit certification then that’s their loss and you shouldn’t force it on the people who play it on PC.

I wouldn’t complain as much if y’know, maybe you officially announced that there was a patch in the works for a specific date, but the only stuff we’ve had has been hints and they were wrong at best. You knew the game was broken when you released it, how can you not have patched it already?
I know DICE (probably) will not read this but goddamn. Haven’t you thought that maybe someone in your employ should get some fucking feedback from the people you’re selling broken shit to? And this site is frankly a damn sight better than that battlelog crap you’ve force-fed us.
When are they going to do away with Origin and Battlelog and give PC players a server browser and the option not to install a bullshit spyware beta steam-rip-off?
I agree with you. If its ready, give it to the pc guys who don’t need “approval” by someone else….and Om a ps3 guy! Even tho pc guys already have those annoying effin flashlights fixed already in a patch us console players never got, I’m ok with it as long as its in this patch.. from what I’ve heard, xbox is still a patch behind ps3 still!
Agreed. I don’t currently have a rig capable of playing BF3 (stuck on console), but it would make a good statement for them to just give you the patch now.
It’s sad that the PC is getting more and more console ports designed for hardware that is so dated. If only there were more Devs like Valve.

No, actually they said currently since the patch for consoles went to Sony/MS, they’re testing themselves the PC Patch. Which means, it’s not even ready. They left it behind.
They changed a few numbers, damage of gun’s weapon for example and they managed to release a long list like they worked. BS. Most of the glitches are untouched.

Console players aren’t the ones telling DICE to delay the PC patch just because it’s not verified by Microsoft or Sony yet.
I’m a console player, and I think its wrong that DICE is holding the patch back just to release it all at one time for all platforms. Why should PC have to wait for us? They shouldn’t. Neither platform should have to wait for the other one. It’s just bad choices on DICE’s side.
I personally don’t think console is the greatest platform to play a first person shooter on, but frankly, if you want to its your choice and I’m sure it’s fun on both.
But at least you got it right, neither platform should have to wait for the other. If DICE wants to release DLC for PS3 a week early then cool, I get to see if it’s great or not before I decide whether or not to buy it.
By that same logic, if the patch is ready for PC a week before the consoles, then don’t make the PC players wait just because microsoft and sony have a bullshit system for dealing with content updates.
Consoles are way better than pc, I can lay on my couch and play bf3, I only get USAS12 fragged by 12 ppl instead of 32 , and NO BATTLELOG! sorry bout that, I got bored waiting for my COD ripoff DLC for 4 months and still have 4 to go

PC and consoles have their pro’s and cons, but it ultimately falls down to you, the consumer.
If you like PC, that’s fine.
If you like consoles, that’s fine.
But bashing another persons platform choice? That isn’t alright. Play what you like, and if you don’t like someone elses choice; then keep it to yourself.

I really hope hes just trolling. Dinosaurs in Battlefield 3 was just a very, very old troll joke which people are starting to take seriously.
If BF3 has a dinosaur DLC, then what ever respect I have left for this butchered “sequel” will be lost. I’d rather have something different like a Spec Ops expansion, or something that’s related to Battlefield, not some DLC that appeals to kids like CoD zombie mode.

It’s a stupid troll idea, yes. But given that DICE are actually competent at content creation, its still something I imagine that they could take and do something fun with.
I’m not saying I want them to do it, but if they did, I’m sure I’d roll with it. It’d be nice to take a break from killing other people for a while, but still enjoy the frostbite 2 engine.
End Game has a lot of connotations, but I do hope its something Spec Ops related.
I’d actually like to be able to play the single player campaign with 4 friends and some decent AI, I think that would have been a whole lot more fun than the actual co op in the game, which I feel was poorly designed at best.
As for the “Biggest map in battlefield history” that’s supposed to come with Armored Kill, I really hope that they don’t do another caspian border or operation firestorm and give us a massive area to fly in, and then about 10% of that to actually do groundwork on. And please, oh mighty God of DICE designers, make sure its not linear as Hell!
Oh I forgot to mention. Wouldn’t it be more of a punishment to say, have to ditch a helicopter a mile away from any flags with your gunner and have to run back to the battlefield, or maybe get a transport chopper to come pick you up or something. Y’know. Like, maybe teamwork or something?
What if End Game is being kept under such tight security because they want us to think it is about dinosaurs =0.

You are right it was a bad troll that I didn’t like at first.
But to be honest now, I kind of like the idea. The same thing happened with Cod and zombies. The ideas had nothing to do with each other. Yet it was a hit and everyone loved it. Heck even the Titans from 2142 was somewhat skeptical at first when they announced it, if I remember right.
To be honest I would LOVE, waves and waves of dinos of any kind just trying to killing me and some friends. A T-rex flipping a tank, or eating a humvee. Velociraptors trying to eat my face off.
Back to the point.
I would rather a Dino DLC then a Cod DLC. If DICE wants new blood put into the game then put one of these in. Its just the right type of “non serious” thing that a game needs once and a while. Something you can just hang back shoot things and not really get all hipped up about it if you’re pissed off at dumb teammates
I don’t know its just horde is something that games are adopting and I would rather it be something original then zombies, troops,… colored blobs. (pack-man reference)
I do not expect dice to do it but, IF BY SOME MAGIC OF GOD THEY DO! They better not half ass it. I want my dinos eating though my humvee, tearing the doors off and what not.

I suppose everyone is right about the dino mode. If done right, it does seem like it could bring some fun. Hopefully DICE can figure something out without making it over the top, if they decide to do it.

Thank god. But if Dice took inspiration from Mirrors Edge for vaulting over objects then why can’t we do a parkour roll when we jump down from a distance of say 10 feet? I don’t think it would negatively affect gameplay.

Because all we can do is take down walls until there is an indestructible exoskeleton. If you could take down ENTIRE buildings, it would change tactics so much. So many indestructible objects gets really annoying. If I’m driving a T-90, I expect to plow through everything. But then again, it’s a new engine and maybe they are still testing it’s limits…

Don’t take that wrong, the best thing with battlefield is destruction and i LOVE IT!!!!! But i think a “private server” should be awesome so you can run all by yourself and destroy buildings and furniture

As a console gamer I really don’t see why DICE don’t release the patch on PC if its ready to go. They shouldn’t be made to wait just because Microsoft and Sony like to check these things before allowing them to be released.
You know, I play on console too and I agree with you 100%. DICE should release it for PC if it is in fact ready to go. It could show us that they actually are capable of doing things right…

I don’t want this patch. I don’t want quickscoping and dropshotting. I don’t want OHK sniper rifles in normal modes. I don’t want the shotgun ammo nerf, nor do I want the USAS buff or the FAMAS buff. Why do we have to use a certain version of the game to play online? This is absurd.

Famas and USAS is getting nerfed, snipers will be OHK from 15m and less, that’s nothing, and will not promote quick-scoping at all. Do you even play the game? Do people even play this game? Drop shotting is impossible! I’ve tried to do it before with my friend, to see if it could be done (since everyone said it can’t, I wanted to be sure, I hate CoD fags) and whenever you go prone, your gun goes off the screen and you aren’t able to shoot. I swear, some people just have no idea what they’re talking about…

The reason why DICE has to patch it on all platforms at once is a great mistery to me. No need for that. The game isn’t cross-platform. As soon as you have it ready, you just release it as quickly as possible. People on all platforms are waiting, growing grey hair, to have this patch that hopefully cures every BIG problem that are their issues right now. Don’t blame me for saying this. I play on Playstation 3, but I do care for the whole community to have a game that has to run properly for everyone. Not just for one platform. Not just for a few that have supposedly no problems at all, killing the fun to play it for others. Give us the FIX. Let’s see it was worth waiting for. Let see was happens.
