We’ve gotten our hands on the very first Battlefield 3 Close Quarters trailer, called “Ziba Tower”. It showcases one of the new maps from Close Quarters — Ziba Tower — which is a “vertical map” as DICE calls it. It’s one of 4 maps that will be included with Close Quarters.

The destruction looked pretty good though. I’m waiting for more vids. Still undecided on this DLC.
It seems judging by the rooftop based area, this was ripped directly from MW2′s highrise level idea… only this looks… smaller….

Gotta admit though, the way people were taking cover against walls etc looked awesome… hopefully that will be a new game mechanic and not just a flashy pre-rendered lie.

Yes because MW2 was the first game to have a map on the of a building.
Who gives a shit COLT_GUN? You may be right that they supposedly “Ripped off” the map type from MW2 but the way I see it is, whatever Battlefield does, it’s always going to be better. So don’t fucking mention COD because we can totally copy the whole game and make that shit way better than what they can do in 3 years. COD Sucks dick plain and simple, battlefield simply destroys, FROSTBITE ALL DAY.
There might be some way to salvage this for Conquest (as this is quite obviously Team Deathmatch) if they spread out to Outdoors, but it doesn’t seem like it. The Trailer seems to depict the main focus of this DLC – Indoor TDM.
So far they look very Crysis 2-sized however, which isn’t a good thing for the Rush/Conquest parts of the Fanbase.

I don’t think that this maps will be totaly bullshit.
Of course they are made for some of the CoD Players bought Battlefield, but some up close maps aren’t that bad.

I must say this looks kinda good with destruction and all, this map looks like its gonna be “tall” and not as small as shown in the map screenshot, or will it be diffrent levels like operation metro rush?

Yea right now imagine everyone in the game with USAS Frag rounds (like Operation Metro today) and turn the music off (for better frag expirience)…
Keep your Close Fraging maps and give us needed game update first, than provide us rental servers within option of BANNING AND KICKING OFF AUTOMATIC FRAG ROUNDS. And than we will be happy with the game…DLC? Who cares for DLC whan you just hate automatic frags?!?
And they expect us to pay for maps they almost directly copied from Campaign/Co-Op?
People will casually talk about how this is a ‘COD map’ but, other than the smallness, it has elements of a (small) Halo map. Battlefield and Halo maps don’t usually have move than 2 vertical levels, whereas this map appears to have 3, possibly 4. Halo is a great game with great maps, but this map really is everything Battlefield is not…
What’s even worse is that this is 2-16 players. 8 vs 8 at most. Definitely not what BF is about.
By the way, before people accuse me of ‘if you don’t like it, don’t buy it’ or to ‘wait for the next DLC’ and likewise, know that I haven’t played in over a month, so I’m mostly here to watch the fall of the Battlefield Franchise.

Have you guys played the old Battlefields recently? 1942 is basically dead, Vietnam is dead, 2142 is dead, and BF2 is worse than 3′s USAS frags because everyone spams grenades. (not including 1943 or BC – which are dead as well) BF3 is keeping the franchise alive and is the best yet IMO.
Before you call the death of the BF franchise, I strongly suggest you actually WAIT and PLAY the DLC before you say it sucks.

I look at this trailer, and I’m excited, I want to try these new maps.
A total and utter clusterfuck. I couldn’t make out the map itself because something exploded every damn second! If this is how the other three maps will play as well, count me out.

I hear ya…. I was the same when I got BFBC2. I liked MW2 at the time, I have NEVER played a COD title since I got BFBC2.
I have no idea how you could ever escape this 15 dollar DLC! I can’t possibly see any way out of this situation!
Other than, you know, not buying it. You bought BF3 to escape CoD, you escaped CoD via BF3, as you just said. So how is a 15 dollar DLC that you /need to specifically buy/ going to affect your gameplay? Go buy armoured kill, it’s going to be awesome.
Do I want CoD in my battlefield 3? No. Does DLC affect the game without buying it? No.
To the people complaining about the patch: It’s going to be within the next month. Is that a long time? Maybe. But the DLC isn’t going to be out until after the patch. They’re not pushing out DLC and not fixing anything.
People may say that more content will never hurt a game, only help it. However, that is not the case here. After so damn long, they release THAT 15 dollar dlc when they could have been making something that’s NOT complete fail. They spent all their resources tailoring a DLC with one thing in mind; to steal the CoD playerbase, instead of tailoring a DLC for us.
Also, not buying the DLC will further shrink the number of servers you can join, and may get you kicked if the new map comes to rotation.
While this isn’t very Battlefield, (hell, what is at this point with DICE and EA?) it may turn out good, it may turn out decent, it may turn out completely terrible. Everyone has their own opinions and its hard to say because we haven’t gotten to play it yet.
I’d prefer something actually Battlefield, not this…but if we like it or not, this is what we are getting, and at the very least, we are for sure getting Armored Kill eventually which puts the ‘field’ in ‘Battlefield’.

Armoured kill will have at least 5 new vehicles and at least 4 new maps(Judging by the way DLC has worked so far), and one of those 4 is going to be probably twice the size of Operation Firestorm! So I am excited.

This looks good. I’m actually looking forward to something like this because lately the conquest servers i seem to find suck. All ppl want to do is snipe and camp. Very frustrating when a group of 3-5 actually play conquest and the teams are totally unbalanced. Plus ppl say this is going to be frag fest, i don’t think so, with only 8 vs 8. It’s not going to be like metro at all.

I total agreed with you. CoD was MADE to be a close combat/ run n gun game, while BF was not; you just cant balance the weapons for both CQC AND big all-out combat. BF cant compete with CoD on CQC. The ideal about full destruction on a close quarters map is fun, but it just didnt work for BF core gameplay. They should have made this DLC for the next MoH game and focus on the vehicle DLC for BF.

How about instead of bitching and whining, you just don’t buy the DLC. They’re not changing the game into all small maps. You can still play the original game modes. They’re providing an alternative to the people who do like this kind of gameplay.
They have two more DLCs planned that may be more fitting to your liking, and have already put out one DLC that basically just expands the game as is. Now they plan on adding a few smaller maps for TDM and everyone flips their shit. If you don’t like it nobody is forcing you to buy it.

why not making something like: 3 towers for 64 players + some helicopters ? 16 is too small i think.
Team Deathmatch in Battlefield 3 only goes up to 24 Player, no matter what Platform its on.

Only on Conquest Large. TDM has a limit of 24 players on PC. Anything higher and breaks the ROE.

As the guy who was asking for more destruction (and actually having them deliver it) i gotta say I’m a little underwhelmed. It looks great and all but that trailer kinda advertises it as EVERYTHING blowing up ALL THE TIME. I’m not looking forward to spawning into the path of an incoming rocket, then spawning onto a claymore, then spawning onto a grenade, then spawning as a balcony falls off a building and lands on me. If the gameplay gets TOO tight they’ll have to change the name to “Clusterfuck Tower” or “1-1 Ratio Map”.
I’m all for more destruction too, but theres a big difference between shooting up some couches and taking down a whole building. The destruction in that trailer looks like something the COD engine could be capable of.

I’m not going to lie. This looks awesome! But I want Bigger maps!! Guys lets not hate on battlefield or EA/Dice. This looks so much better then cod. I’m just happy that we are going to get something new to play on. Getting pretty tired of the maps we have already.

I don’t see how it’s better than COD. COD is centered around making CQC interesting with Killstreaks and Perks and more responsive controls (no destruction and etc). If it was free I wouldn’t mind, but I’m not sure that it’s worth $15, especially if it doesnt include CQ and Rush.
This reminds me more of cod meets rainbow six then bf3. But what the heck the fact that the TAR is in makes me a happy player. Also where is the patch that is promised?

There could possibly be rush as a game mode but I’m kinda doubting it. Shipping with only TDM and probably SD and SQ seems stupid to me.
I love how when they were marketing bf3 one of their selling points was every map can be played on every mode…if they ship this with only tdm or sqtdm i guess that idea they gave us is out the window. I’m not going to lie that trailer was pretty cool, but thinking about how everything is turning out i’m extremely disappointed about this game. Was looking forward to this game for over a year before release, followed all the hype, beta came out i enjoyed it, game came out and I loved it…then the patches, the nerfs, no communication, delays, now this dlc.
I really wish EA would realize the way to beat COD is to stop trying to beat COD.

I want huge scale fighting spread out across the entire map, like in BF2, that’s why im waiting for Armoured Kill, and possible End Game, eventhough BF3 just ended out being the unholy hybrid between “fast paced Rambo, i gotta unlock even the most basic equipment like heatseekers, coax machineguns, smoke and flares, because else, people will stop playing this game”-game and BF2
I doubt they really care about the competitive scene. EA is all about commercialism. So the natural assumption is, yes, these maps are targeting the massive COD audience.
I enjoy the small, competitive maps in Rush, but TDM is boring. Will the DLC have objective gamemodes? That’s the dealbreaker for me.
I was also gonna say that this trailer made me remember the clusterfuck of CS’s Office map, back when servers were booming. Some good times happened in there. Maybe the same could be said with these new maps
