After the announcement of 3 DLC packs a few weeks ago, many Battlefield 3 fans complained that it was too little, too late. However, according to DICE’s Alan Kertz, the DLC delay had one big reason, as Kertz shared with Reddit users:
“The big reason that “it’s taking so long” is that we pushed hard on BF3, and lots of developers pushed vacations, parental leave and other things for a while to ship a product they could be proud about. After that was done, it takes a while to get people back into the office and up to speed.”
It seems that there are still developers out there who care about employee happiness
We’ve heard DICE say several times over the past year that when it comes to downloadable content, they go for quality rather than quantity. The recently announced 3 DLC packs, which will be released this year, aren’t much compared to Modern Warfare’s 20-something DLC packs, which mostly include maps and not much else.
The first DLC, Close Quarters, is scheduled for release in June. A patch will be released before the DLC, and is currently in certification at Microsoft and Sony.

BF3 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
And here we go with more rant and rage. xD
i wish my vacations lasted that long.
Obviously people need vacations after big launches, keeping in mind of course they need to have a team on hand to hotfix issues as they come up after launch. They did this very thing with BF2. Game launched and people went on vacation. Huge bug made the game awful; they hotfixed it which made it unplayable. So they called people back to do a proper hotfix. It made sense, and i sorta felt bad for the people called back.
The problem with the reason however at this time is that most BF fans feel the game was rushed to begin with. So, we didn’t ask for the game to be rushed to market just to beat COD, bugs and all. It’s hard to have any sympathy given how unbalanced and buggy the game is, and STILL most of them aren’t fixed. The game is a stripped down version of BF2 with prettier graphics.
So I think the fans are sorta wondering why DICE employees are taking a break when they did this to themselves with a buggy stripped down game.
I would have rather had them release the game 6 months later with proper hit detection/bug fixes/ 6 person squads/commander/voice/ a functional comma rose…… than have a shell of a game out only to have the development team take a vacation while gamers are frustrated.
And I think DICE underestimates how pissed off people are to be waiting for DLC only to have it be something most people don’t care about. It’s not what people wanted. That’s also why it’s too little and too late. This new content doesn’t add anything intersting to the game.
I wish some developer out there would actually be honest with consumers and say. OK we heard your feedback. We’re sorry and we’re going to do more to make you have faith in our company again. We going to brainstorm and come out with something to knock your socks off.
Instead of this PR BS about making a successful game, bla bla bla
Wise words, couldn’t have said it better myself.
Reminder: BF3Blog is not DICE nor EA.
I think most of that know that. But why do we all read, comment, thumbs up or down on a blog? Its a way of venting and communicating with the BF community. Im sure someone at DICEor EA reads or knows about bf3blog. Y do I think that? How did they know to inform bf3blog.com about copyright infringement when the new trailer was on here?
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO a comment on the first comment im happy now
Why would there be rant and rage? I understand why it would take this long I don’t want a DLC that came right out there ass. A lot of people are comparing DICE to infinityward and saying basically how they are similar. DICE makes sure its good enough to put out because they know they don’t have brain dead fans, but infinityward has a bunch of kids buying COD, so whats the point of actually trying to put out a good DLC since the COD fans will buy anything?
the patch is going to improve the game a lot with these cool little changes and the dlc is gonna be good cos it will include craziness and a bit of teamwork with the vehicles I reckon are gonna be in the because in the trailer at 00:43 there is a helicopter in the foreground and it says focuses on infantry warfare and it doesn’t say It will be infantry warfare
stop complaining dice are one of the coolest devs out there and they deserve the break well done dice
Ok, again, NO. The Maps are INDOORS. To get to Vehicles, they’d have to make them OUTDOORS. Outdoors is not Close Quarters. Outdoors is Armored Fury. You don’t even need confirmation of this, the Maps are way too small for Vehicles. Of any kind. They’re too small even for RPGs.
Ok it says the maps are close quarters not indoors and on diva tower I think a kasakata would be perfect because it wouldn’t be too overpowered if u think about it look at the trailer 00:43. Btw dice celebrated their twentieth anniversary by goin to Dubai recently
@ theawesometaco
No offense intended, but could you start using punctuation? Reading a paragraph sized run on sentence is a bit irritating.
Oh god, you’re right, it is annoying. I don’t really think about what I’m typing especially on my phone but do you see what I’m saying? Look at that for punctuation and don’t worry, no offence taken.
Diva Tower – Some kind of an Office Building. Trailer shows us its high up, there’s even a sun roof, so likely there could be a Helipad somewhere up there. Problem being, the Maps are so small, even 1 Chopper would be overkill. Just aim it correctly and you could clear the whole building over and over in less than a minute. Its like why HD Destruction doesn’t let you go through the entire wall, the entire Map would be razed in 30-60 seconds. In this case, everyone would be dead in 30-60 seconds, over and over.
Yes, but only one floor is open to the roof, and there are at least three floors. Also, since the heli is so close to the map, stingers and iglas would be much more of a problem, especially after the patch. Since you have to remain fairly motionless to operate the Kasakata/venom, you also take the risk of getting shot out. I think it will be perfect for this map.
I loled at the thought of a M-134 clearing the building or the whole floor being razed in a matter of seconds.
Hahaha yeah, and then you see revenge by a crazy amount of rpgs flying towards the helicopter.
I’m assuming you’re getting 3 floors with the rooftop – Ziba Tower Trailer – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06Laq0oLQfI – between 0:22-0:26 seconds in you can see that there’s at least two Floors which can (at least in part) be shot at through the glass ceiling. 0:43 seconds in you can see the Map from “Bird’s Eye View” – The glass ceiling from before is at the very top of the shot, followed by open floor rooftop and windows to both floors after that from which a Chopper could rain death into. There’s also a wide open area right in the middle of the map. Even without all that, a Chopper could target the Building from the outside (its some kind of Office/Cafe mix – explains the decor….) as its got windows, and blast right through them, wiping out everyone inside.
Looking at it now from 0:43, I see no markings for a Helipad so unless it was on a nearby Building instead, again, I doubt it’ll feature any.
Ok first of all, in the hope that you read this, to shoot through the glass roof (00:43 far side of the building) the helicopter would literally have to be sidewaysin which it would crash. Secondly, the helipad could easily be out of shot or indeed on another building. Finally, to go down level with the floors would be a risky tactic because after the patch, any rpgs, smaws will destroy the helicopter instantly-http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/news/view/2832654779195992365// -second under vehicle fixes.
That’s all assuming they actually include RPGs etc. which a lot of people would get very pissed over very soon, for Maps of that size.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06Laq0oLQfI –pause at 26 seconds, the guy jumping over the ledge has an rpg. If the decide to take out rpgs etc, as another server, i doubt that server would have the heli.
Thats great and all but dont use words like “Aggressive” for 4 map packs that are being released every season not every 2-3 months.. I would rather get DLC every month if they broke them up into packs of maybe 2 maps one month then a few weapon packs the next just to keep the game fresh and give us something to look forward to every 2 months or so
All Im sayin is they could release map packs with 2 new maps every few months..1 map that’s sandbox style with a new vehicle or 2 and maybe a few new weapon’s, and if they NEED to please the CoD kid’s the other map could be a CQ map with a couple weapons..If they did that and the price was right I dont think all the BF forums would be full of pissed off loyal fans.. It seems to me most people don’t care about the new Game Mode’s and Assignment’s enough to wait 6+ months between DLC’s to get any fresh content..Myself on the other hand I think this game has plenty of weapons to last me a few years so i just want MAPS MAPS MAPS and a few new vehicles… Other then that I just want the Damn game to work like a $60 game and not like a $60 Beta..
right, lets forget the fact that a lot of the DLC is on disc
And can you please point out exactly where this is on said disc. Ya know, so we can make sure your not talking outta ya arse.
I agree with Big Bubbaloola, partially because he is right, and DLC is NOT built into the disk, and partially because his picture is Igor form Young Frankensteins.
DAMN YOUR EYES!!!!!
Too late.
The DLC on the disc comment was in reference to Bad Company 2. The “DLC” – Downloadable Content, was actually unlocking existing game modes on existing maps… there was nothing new or downloaded. Granted, they were free (with the VIP pack if you preordered the game or else you had to buy VIP access), but they were not downloadable at all, the maps and game modes were already included with the game in the first place. Therefore DLC has a new meaning, Disc Locked Content. Even though BF3 offers all game modes on all the maps from the beginning, I still thought the comment was appropriate with the current “Aggressive” DLC bullshit we are being fed.
DLC (DOWNLOADABLE Content)
Sit down…
This is Battlefield 3, not Mass Effect 3. That means there is no on-disk DLC.
Give us reason why patch is delay? I dont give a f…. about DLC honestly
You obviously didn’t read the entire post did you? Its in certification, but i think that this patch will ruin bf3 instead of helping it, will they fix the InFR sights or just leave it like it is, i prefer they change the map landscape a little bit so the maps are more balanced.
The changes they are making are fantastic, it will make playing the game a whole lot more fun and yes people are going to have to learn different techniques when using their weapons and vehicles, that’s called adapting and its enjoyable.
If you read the whole list you would notice they are not going to “fix” IRNV since that was already nerfed to satisfy thousands of whingers such as yourself. There are hundreds of changes on that list and you are complaining about a single scope which is only really useful in a handful of scenarios.
Re-read what he’s saying. He’s saying IRNV right NOW is broken, and it is, its pointless. They overnerfed it.
The Patch is bringing some good changes (USAS Nerf!) and some bad ones. Its not about adapting, its about the bad changes.
Totally agree. IRNV is a completely useless sight right now as it takes a good 2-3 seconds to get any image on it.
Nevermind that http://bf3blog.com/2012/02/list-of-confirmed-battlefield-3-fixes-released/
IRNV FIXES:
-Tweaked IRNV to be more consistent across all levels.
-Fixed a rendering issue with IRNV view when taking damage.
-Tweaked the IRNV zoom times and scope visible areas to be the same across all weapons (some were faster than others).
-Fixed the QBU-88 sniper and the L96 IRNV scopes to use the proper sniper reticule.
This adds some faith in humanity.
Because of fucking Microsoft & Sony who always have to take their sweet time. (Don’t flame me, I’m a console player)
Awesome~
They clearly stated there’s one team ( obviously big ) which manages everything. That means, except their vacations, currently they gonna have a little time for the patch, then, a little time for the DLC and then again for the next patch and so on…
In short, we’ll have a truly polished game in over a year, like all other BFs. Is their team a little small? Maybe some hires? I don’t know, just wondering…
I dont remember BC2 being this unpolished even when it first came out. BTW I hope they fix that stoopid green flickering
today the green flickering actually was red flickering… truly annoying!
AFAIK that’s still PunkBuster, so gotta take that one up with the PB Devs.
Yes, but BC2 was the second game running on the Frostbite engine, while BF3 is the first game running on Frostbite 2. Future games on Frostbite 2 won’t have so many issues at launch.
I hope.
So by that logic, we should stop buying any game EA releases that is using a brand new engine that’s “untested”? EA using me as a beta tester? Never! /s
He meant the true Battlefield ones, not Bad Company. BC2 was WAY simplier than BF2 was. Both games, BF3 and BF2 ran on semi fresh and fresh engines on launch.
Here, Here,
I very much dislike people comparing BF3 to BC2
BC2 is the worst Battlefield game ever released, sure its a game and it was fun but its nothing compared to every other True Battlefield game
Maybe we should stop comparing BF3 to any other battlefield game at all. BF3 is more like a combination of BF2 and BFBC2 and made it’s own category. While BF2 was more teamwork and more strategic gameplay BFBC2 is more simpel and you just “blow stuff up”. BF3 has found a breaking point between those two were you have to work like a team and still just walk around and “blow stuff up”.
Which would have been fine, if only it was what we’d actually been promised. We were promised a true sequel to BF2. Instead we got a merger of BF2 and BC2 with a bunch of broken crap attached. With BC2 we knew not to expect anything similar to BF2, but we also knew it would at least be Battlefield, in a sense. With BF3 we were told to expect a true sequel. Instead they delivered something completely different.
As it seems, we’ve been trolled from the very beginning. Forget “aggressive DLC” and “21″ whatever, we didn’t even get the true sequel we were promised. Talk about False Advertising.
DICE has 280 Employees last count. For comparison, Infinity Ward has 100 and they worked on MW3 along with Sledgehammer Games (50 Employees here I’m guessing). Plus they outsourced Modern Warfare 3 UI and DLC Content to Raven Software (team of 20-30 possibly). 100 + 50 + 30 = around 180-200 people working on MW3. DICE however does multiple Projects at once, so their Resources are spread.
Bad Company 2 ran on Frostbite 1.5, Bad Company ran on Frostbite 1.0. It had upgrades. Quite a few of them, so there was plenty of room to make a bad Launch due to the Engine. Frostbite 2 was used for Need For Speed: The Run which means its likely been ready for quite a long time as well.
Battlefield 1942 ran on Refractor 1.0, Vietnam ran on 1.5, BF2 ran on 2.0 and 2142 ran on 2.5. Refractor 2 was a completely new Engine by comparison to Refractor (1). Refractor 2.5 was semi-new, and would have been a better comparison.
BC2 had its up and down points. No Jets/64-MP, small Maps etc. dragged it down, but it was fun, even if not as near as much as BF2.
You know what… don’t buy any Battlefield game new unless you’re a masochist.
I started playing BF2 in 2007, almost 2 years after its release. I didn’t experience 1.0, 1.1 and any patch older than 2007. I expect them to be much more ridden with bugs and other things like shooting while jumping. Only things that let me know about those are “Battlefield 2 in real life” shorts, namely the 1.2 patch one.
Only reason I pre-ordered BF3 was to get 4 guaranteed good maps (especially after Operation Clusterfuck in beta).
I won’t buy BF2143 right after it comes out unless they give you a very important pre-order bonus. 4 remade maps? Might work, but what if buying a lim. ed. costs the same as base game + exp pack? Talking about Origin in Russia.
Good for them.
It is indeed nice that DICE cares about their employees…I forgive them for the late DLC.
wow, you cant even see that you are being lied to…the whole story kurtz told is a sham.
Its actually quite common. Games which fall behind in Development for their Deadline are either pushed back, or go into something called “Crunch Time” (or sometimes both) where Developers work a lot more to meet the Deadline. Pushing Holidays to later dates etc. is also a “Crunch Time” feature, so technically it could quite easily be true, as BF3 definitely had a “Crunch Time.”
Well.. a few things bother me here.
As an employee at a tech company, I recently took a week off. Which like usually involved me putting in 80 hrs the week before leaving to ensure there were no bugs in the stuff I pushing live before vacation.
I did the best I could. BUT.. QA is never 100% and bugs came up. Meaning I needed to reserve some vacation time to fix my faulty work.
2nd off. I work in the US. I get 10 days vacation a year which is pretty standard. How much vacation time do they get at DICE? Sweden averages 25 days a year… http://www.mainstreet.com/slideshow/lifestyle/countries-tons-vacation-time
TLDR: If you’re selling a product, vacation after you fix it, especially if you released it to a paying public. As far as the DLC is concerned, who wants to buy it when the core product is broken. (And as far as I’m concerned, take as long as you want with the DLC, just make sure the game is fixed ASAP)
Dear god man!!!!! Only 10 days holiday a year?!?!?! Please tell me that doesn’t include public holidays and that you get a shit-ton of them a year, otherwise you really need to find another career. I will officially never complain about my 29 days leave (excluding public holidays) ever EVER again!
10 paid. 7 Holiday.
I think that’s pretty standard in the U.S. though it is possibly to get more, and just as possible to get less or even none.
I think “federal/state workers” and such usually get quite a bit more, but as a libertarian I pretty much hate the fed/state model for work.
Ya gonna detest me then – I work as a Systems Manager for our local Highways Dept. at the County Council. But it is pretty much our only perk these days.
Wow.. 29 days? that’s 6 weeks vacation…. A heck of alot… you sir, are a lucky Louie
Umm, thats 4 weeks and 1 day. Just Saying.
DICE also took a 2 week(?) trip to Dubai (lol?) to celebrate DICE Studio 20th Anniversary, so that probably slowed the Patch down a bit.
Since EA wanted to get the game out before MW3 they probably put some serious “Crunch Time” into it though (its easy to see even with all the Crunch Time it was rushed), which would have caused serious burnout without some downtime after, so it does technically make sense.
Actually, you are guaranteed by law in Sweden to have 25 days, or five working days of paid vacation, and you can also as an employee require that 4 of those weeks are consecutive and during the summer months. When on vacation you are also guaranteed by law to not being required to be available through any means. If this conflicts with the employers plans and commitments that’s the employers problem for not having sufficient staffing.
Oh, and we also get 13 months of paid parental leave to distribute between both parents, and nowdays that is mostly distributed pretty evenly, meaning people are away for atleast six months. Also not something the employer can stop.
Well, i gotta say… USA sucks if that is true….. WTF 10 days vacation for one year..
In Europe we get like 23 days a year , and some jobs even get a month extra + vacation money for he summer + some extra money at new year
Come live in Europe where the girl looks sweet and the employees actually got some rights
and the majority of your countries, large industrialized ones anyway, are drowning in debt and on the verge of bankruptcy….so have some more vacation.
Good for you Dice. Happy developers make for better games !
The next blog post better be about the majorly overdue update going live. It seems like a big game, such as BF3, that Sony and Microsoft would already know what to do to certify the patch damn near instantly. They make some mean bank off of EA. This shit should be worked on 24/7 until it is certified. Then if Dice or EA want to wait to release the update for all consoles at the same time, then what’s the point of releasing the DLC 1 week early to PS3. If that is the case, they can release the update to the PC without waiting for Xbox and PS3 certification.
i wish my vacations lasted that long
^ oops, posted that twice
Well, if you read between the lines it means the patch we all are waiting for gets delayed becuase of this and thus DICE/EA doesn’t care that much about customer experince. I’m not saying the devs shouldn’t have been allowed to take a vacation, I just think EA should have had some other devs ready to work on bug-fixing or release the game later in a better shape, as I think you agree with me that the game still has many bugs, of which some are even game-breaking.
Just BUllshit, you have no Idea how developers work.
- other developer have to learn what they have done, how the previous team worked etc. – Its not done in a week or smth. But this really depends on the planning.
After all its better to use the same team, otherwise they would waste their time and money.
I’m well aware of that and I’m well aware of how developers work… What I meant that they should have had some guys who woulhd have had their vacation before release so that they could actually solve the bugs after release…
Everyone needs their vacation, sure. Still doesn’t explain how 4 = 21, because it doesn’t.
The statement “Three times as much DLC” doesn’t necessarily mean three many times as many SEPARATE DLC packs. If you count all that is included in the way of weapons, assignments, vehicles, and maps in B2K we’re probably a good chunk of the way towards that 3x as much already.
I really hope that’s not true, but it kinda makes sense.
Problem with that is we have gotten so used to “DLC” meaning new maps that that’s what everyone is expecting. DICE has been shady about the way they say things, then go on twitter and come up with an excuse on how that wasn’t what they meant.
DICE is like a woman. You know and they know that they have what you want. They give mixed signals and piss us off to they point we want to toss them in the garbage only to come back for that little piece of happiness.
i understand what you are saying but i am being sincere explain when they said “aggressive dlc”
Now THAT right there is a legitimate beef, and it’s among the reasons the distrust DICE/EA.
Feel free to continue to hang onto that belief, right until I point out how long we have believed, and DICE has had to clarify that we’re not going to be getting 21 pieces of DLC. Not even when they announced the 3 coming this year, or after (so far) have they even tried to clarify what “21 DLC” means for them, if it really just means 21 Maps total, or whatever.
Plus there’s also the infamous Conference Call stating an “Aggressive DLC” Plan for BF3. 3 is not aggressive. 3 is below average.
Agreed. 3 DLC in one year is hardly “aggressive” especially when you consider COD has gotten us used to 4 or 5 a year…..and thats with a new COD every November. While MW3 is basically a reskin, BLOPS at least gave us zombies. (I know not everyone played zombies, but I enjoyed it) It had new weapons and game play on top of the new MP maps. If DICE wants us to believe they have some aggressive DLC plans, they better wow us with these DLC. I know we have only seen 1 clip from 1 map, but its failed to impress most of the BF3 fans. AND we have to wait till JUNE!
They’ve really stepped things up with CoD DLC, MW3 DLC is being made by Raven Software, likely so that Infinity ward can focus on MW4. MW3 is going to be delivering 1-3 DLCs every month until October/November (not sure which), including new Game Modes (there’s a Schedule on CoD Elite).
Even not including CoD and their insane DLC Schedule however, look at BioWare and DLC – DA Origins and ME2 so far have had the biggest bulk of BioWare DLC, with ME3 likely to deliver quite a bit before the end of the year. Smaller time frame than BF3 and likely more content. Of course, each Game delivers different things, BF Maps are huge, but unless they’re Urban, they’re not really building-heavy (Caspian/Firestorm for example, compared to Karkand etc) so they’d take a lot less time. Most of Caspian and Firestorm is just Terrain, which is easy to do. Skyrim is about to deliver DLC which Bethesda claims will feel like “Expansion Packs” (after Oblivion Horse Skins I want to see proof of this >.>) and it launched right after BF3.
Didn’t BC2 had only 3 real new maps (the other “DLC” were just new game modes on already existing maps)?
^Ignore my post. /facepalm to me.
Was a mix of old Maps with new Game Modes, a few new Maps and a few Single-Player Rips. We still technically had 7 DLC excluding Vietnam though. If they didn’t mean 3×7 they should have clarified that ages ago, along with whatever the EA version of “aggressive” means.
Starting to look like all this was just exaggeration, a part of the 100 Million Dollar Overhype Campaign.
While we’re on the topic of DLCs, doesn’t the third DLC “End Game” sound ominous to you? I get the feeling that it might be actually the last dlc planned for bf3, but hopefully i’m wrong :L Maybe it means it’s the ‘end’ dlc for this year or something along those lines haha well, i’m just guessing all this
Yeah, its been pointed out on older Articles too. It’ll be a few months before we find out what it’s about though, or if its the final one
Trying to keep us in the know, that’s all. Happy to see it. When it comes to release dates and shit like that, it is what it is..some folks gotta realize that DICE isn’t run by robots. At least, not yet
“The big reason that “it’s taking so long” is that we pushed so hard on BF3, now it’s broken”. Let’s get the F*CK out of here. Everybody leave the building, it’s a code RED. The building will collapse in 5 minutes, because of the placing of C4 by the users. LOL.
Not if the building was built on Frostbite 2
Wait a minute, that’s right. The building IS built on the new improved Frostbite 2 engine with less damage. Everybody back to their seats and finish the job. The only thing that can happen now is that the windows are going to fall out, that’s all. LOL.
but one of them will probably fall prey to “bad luck” for no apparent reason
Ok, that’s it. Just leave your seats and get out of here. I’ll do the announcement to the public. Dear users: “The big reason that “it’s taking so long” is that we are going on holiday right now, because of the threats of users trying to bomb us. Therefore, exspecting any improvement to the game is depending on you users to leave us alone. You’ll have to wait and see what’s comming in the near future, but not right now.”. Phuh, I’ll hope that the community is taking this for real. I’m out of here.
#Did someone leave the mic on?, SH*T… Let’s explain that when I’ll be comming back from my holiday#
#Did someone leave the mic on?, SH*T… Let’s explain that when I’ll be comming back from my holiday [In an undisclosed location deep underground called Dubai. Oh crap, I said it
HELP!]#
Good Lord you people crack me up. The sad thing is that it’s true.
Frostbite has so much raw potential, all of it going to waste.
It’s like seeing a 70 year old woman driving a supercharged sports car only going 35 miles an hour on the highway.
35 mph on the freeway means everyone else looks like they are going way faster, therefore she doesn’t get the speeding ticket! Its the good ol decoy move. After that, she can speed off!
COD-decoy
DICE-70 year old lady
Im just waiting for DICE to step on the gas!
Another anouncement from us, I mean me, from an undisclosed location deep underground called Dubai, because we from DICE like to bring you many anouncements that are based on air. I don’t like to spend my whole vacation underground, but I have no choice for being here. Luckely, far, far away from the mess we’ve made. Why, we had to built a new engine for the game will be a big mistery, even to me. Trying to take some gamers from COD and having to launch the game previously to MW3, too. I realise now, that these were the biggest mistake to make. If only we had taken some more time to deliver a good and above all a working game to the community, with less bugs than we’ve had from the start. No excuses for that. And no excuses for creating a whole new phenomenon called “input-lag” to the community. So, what do you put on top of the pie called “general lag”? Yes, right “input-lag”. Making the game just more exciting and more unplayable. Isn’t that a great discovery? Made possible by the new and improved Frostbite 2 engine that we especially created for you all to annoy you to eventually make you to cry out, why the hell we made this happen. See you all for the next BIG anouncement from us. Bye, bye…
Dice never really lost my respect for them i knew they had a good reason to have it delayed unlike some other people who seems to loose there faith in dice after every single setback and then comes crawling back -.-
I don’t mind the wait, I like DICE to take their time
vacation = better rested = happy employee= clear thoughts = better game
better game = happy customer = vacation = happy employee = clear thoughts = aggressive dlc = happy customer = loyalty to next sequel = more money = happy employee
Shoulda gave them a vacation b4 they started the game…..6 years ago!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO first comment …. ohh wait
Shame dice doesn’t extend it’s “employee care” to “customer care”, cos that is non existent
Making promises you don’t keep is called lying, not employee care
Wait for the patch delay announcement or the massive list of things now not in it
It’s coming
I work Monday-Friday. I work hard everyday… I handle steel. When I come home at 1-2am I play video games to relax before sleeping. I never see my family because I work night shift, and they’re at work/school when I’m at home. I don’t bitch because thats life. I don’t want a sob story, or to hear people complaining about being “tired.” DICE needs to man up apparently.
Spend a few weeks working on the game, take a few weeks off while that DLC pleases the players. While a team is working on DLC another team is taking time off, and while the DLC team has time off, the patch team works on fixing what needs to be fixed? Is it really that hard?
You heared the man, go on with it. Handling steel is harder than handling software.
Life IS life, but that doesn’t mean every job has to be some brutal black and white horrible hell for it’s workers who have some soulless, heartless boss.
DICE got vacations because they’re people too, and I would rather have a happy dev team over some over worked, zero motivation, unhappy dev team who only see BF3 as another project they’re being payed for just to pay bills.
DICE goes on vacation; people bitch about it. DICE doesn’t go on vacation and lose all motivation which makes BF3 worse; people bitch about it.
Either way, people are always going to complain, so I’d rather have a delayed DLC compared to a half-assed on time DLC made by devs with no motivation.
Look what happened to the original Infinity Ward!
People only take so much shit for so long b4 they nut up and just leave. Im ok with people taking vacation. America is over worked and we dont get near the time off as the rest of the world. I dont know about Sweden (isnt that where DICE is?) but they get their vacation too. Doesnt matter how hard you work, point is you work and deserve a vacation!
I drive truck for a living and video games are my stress relief from all the retarded drivers out there. I may not get a lot of vacation time, but it always helps me clear my head and get back to the daily chore that is work. Hopefully the DICE employees come back with a clear head and give us some quality DLC and if it needs fixing, it doesnt take 3 months to do so
With a game as big as BF3 it’s ridiculous to me that Dice doesn’t have the man power to cover vacation time after the initial release while still working on patching and working on DLC.
It makes a lot more sense now. They clearly care about their employees. They are human, not a bunch of mindless drones who try to obey your bitching and complaining. If you bitch about a developers game that took them years to make, remake and publish into what it is, your the worst kind of gamer. Sure it could’ve been better, but it never was supposed to be perfect.
Ah I see
So it was SUPPOSED to be full of game breaking bugs ?
Is getting around them some sort of “extra challenge” then ?
Christ how stupid do I feel now, I expected it to work fully 5 months in, I feel a bit selfish for expecting that now
Thanks for giving me the heads up on this…
they release a buggy game just to beat cod out of the gates nothing more nothing less but they work so hard on the Fgame that i work hard to pay for. i should show some Fcompasion because of what? oh because frosbite 2 which by the way is their own engine was hard to develop for which you will say “it has better graphics than their previous engines and it is doing so much more, it takes time” but ill say “it fails by comparison on every level of gameplay” Fthem Raggggeeee!!!
“”The recently announced 3 DLC packs, which will be released this year, aren’t much compared to Modern Warfare’s 20-something DLC packs”"
Aha and don’t forget that you have to pay for every single one dlc for modern warfare(20 dlc for 15 or 30 bucks) just like for the 3 of Battlefield 3.
and how many of those “DLC” maps are just from cod 4 and mw2? Quantity isnt always better. MW3 is proof of that
Actually, 50
By comparison to Blops, its cheaper because Blops charged you 15×6(?), but its still ridiculous. Morons reporting BioWare to the FCC for the ME3 Ending should be reporting Activision’s questionable practices instead. MW3 – 60 USD/60 EU. Then, yearly CoD Elite Subscription = 50 USD/whatever. For coughing up 110$ up front you gain a year’s worth of shoddy MW3 DLC. Then the next Game comes along and you need to re-spend 110$, Blops 2 + CoD Elite Subscription for Blops 2 DLC.
SEE WHUT THEY DID THAR?
Tired of all the little bitches crying seriously shut up. Good for them!Half the kids and adults who cry have no idea what it is to work in that industry or the time deadlines they face. If you were held to the same standards you hold them to you would all be fired in under a week.SHUT UP
this is by far the most true for the (just like the music) industry they work in the deadlines are murder
