After the announcement of 3 DLC packs a few weeks ago, many Battlefield 3 fans complained that it was too little, too late. However, according to DICE’s Alan Kertz, the DLC delay had one big reason, as Kertz shared with Reddit users:
“The big reason that “it’s taking so long” is that we pushed hard on BF3, and lots of developers pushed vacations, parental leave and other things for a while to ship a product they could be proud about. After that was done, it takes a while to get people back into the office and up to speed.”
It seems that there are still developers out there who care about employee happiness We’ve heard DICE say several times over the past year that when it comes to downloadable content, they go for quality rather than quantity. The recently announced 3 DLC packs, which will be released this year, aren’t much compared to Modern Warfare’s 20-something DLC packs, which mostly include maps and not much else.
The first DLC, Close Quarters, is scheduled for release in June. A patch will be released before the DLC, and is currently in certification at Microsoft and Sony.
