BF3 dog tags
Battlefield 3 had a number of pre-order bonuses, from Back To Karkand, to special dog tags and multiplayer skins. DICE has now released two of those items for sale: the SPECACT skins + dog tags, and the “promo bundle” of dog tags. Here’s a run down on the two items:

  • SPECACT multiplayer skins + dog tag bundle (10 dog tags): $2.99
  • Dig tag “promo bundle” (10 dog tags): $2.99

Both bundles are available today for PlayStation 3 owners, while PC and Xbox 360 owners will have to wait until tomorrow.

This is the epitome of nickel and diming.

I’m going to go ahead and blame EA for this. The DICE I’ve dealt with in the past (the one that liked to give free maps) would have never charged for this.

Good sir, I have played every single Battlefield title and accompanying expansion. 1942 is not Battlefield 3. For one, it was published in 2002. The game world has changed since then, along with the game code.

Some people are willing to pay money for all of this, and those are the people you never hear from cause they aren’t on these websites complaining about everything. Frostbite 2 is one helluva complicated piece of work, and DICE apparently has its reasons for not releasing the game code or editing tools.

The endeavor to make BF3 multi-platform comes with its consequences, and there probably aren’t going to be many fan-made maps around. Mods… I’m hoping the Project Reality team is working on that.

You are mistaken. They are releasing the SPECACT skins along with the pre-order dogtags. The other set of dog tags are from the Dr. Pepper promotion.

I find both of these things retarded since I was told that my pre-order dogtags were exclusive and would never be released for people who didn’t get them in the pre-order. I guess EA decided they need to be more greedy and sucker people into buy more shit they don’t need.

Same sort of thing with the Dr. Pepper Dog Tags, but at least my $15 worth of Dr.Pepper tasted good.

Same goes for the Physical Warfare Pack that they ended up giving away for free. They give out the pre-order bonus that I got, now I would have to pay for the others. I’m not happy about this, if your going to un-lock all pre-order bonus, either charge for them all, or give them all for free.

While I think it’s silly to mention dog tags and a broken game as somehow related, do you seriously not notice the numerous bugs and missing features in BF3?

A broken game? No, not even close. That’s silly. BF3 is a great game.

But it certainly needs some fixing, tuning up, and features put in that are painfully missing.

Here is how BF3 is broken:
emphasis on good graphics but crappy game play.
Crappy gameplay? Too many weapons that aren’t needed, same accessories for all as incentive to level up, heavy weapons like Javs, Rocket Pods, Guided missiles are waaaay underpowered and almost useless. No commander. No VOIP, no 6 player squads. too much COD garbage. Maps suckm game sucks.
I stopped playing this garbage awhile ago and won’t buy another battlefail game unless it’s 2143 not made by that young punk Kirtz.

Now they also want to rip me off by forcing me to buy a copy of the item I already have anyway if I want the other bonus item? F*cking hell EA you guys are dicks.

If there’s a problem with the game (sure there is), I bet it’s all EA’s fault. They’ve used a lie-based-advertiesment-campaign, bottlenecked DICE to finish their game before MW3 to get more players (=money), and tried to compete with CoD using CoD elements in a BF game (=health regen in vehicles and infantry, perks that destroys teamplay (like Ammo, you don’t need a support to resupply. lol.), audio spotting, etc etc.).
DICE had a great potential to make BF3 maybe the GOTY. But EA just wanted money, they didn’t care about customers. Just money.
Maybe EA and DICE got our moneys in bank, maybe they profitted, but they’ve lost their honor and our trust.
I won’t buy another DICE game before I read on forums and make sure there’s enough time passed until release to make the game stable.
Maybe there’s a hope, but it’s very little I guess. I wonder can we get a BF2 in Frostbite 2, and full destruction (not like in BF3.). (also minus the blue art theme and big sun glare.)

They can have 20 DLC packs in a year because not only are the maps much smaller and simpler, they can pretty much copy+paste maps from previous games with only minor texture changes since they’re still using the COD4 engine.

Besides, I’d rather not have to pay $15 every 3-4 weeks to keep playing on the majority of servers.

And I hope that I only have to pay money for EXPANSIONS/BOOSTERPACKS not for DLC like maps or weapons.. that would suck pretty hard. I mean seriously.. maps are supposed to be FREE. I don’t want to waste my hard earned money on some maps everyone could create if given the tools to do so.

cool that it came out. i kinda knew in the beginning you would be able to get the camo to buy later on. but wtf i just got all the dr.pepper crap already. got it in the middle of dec an got lucky that they still had a few. but i got to buy them again since i dont have the other 5 tags from amazon. but it kinda makes up for them putting out the physical ware pack to everyone. but it is fucked since i have to pay for the other shit and they got my shit free. tired of ps3 getting all the shit early and free. they complain about all this shit and get dlc 1st, 1943 that a lot of people paid for. dont know why they gave it to them in bf3. when it was arcade game yoiu had to buy and it was out when bfbc2 was out. dont know about ps3 having game and personal chat like 360. but if they did and where that concerned about it. they could do that like i mostly do anyway on 360. plus if ps3 players are anything like 360 players, no one really puts there head set on. it is weird since all other bf game people talk and even on beta. it is ok though. i have played both consoles online and campaign. i dont know what magical drug that these ps3 users are doing. but i got to say 360 looks better and im sorry if you dont have both or have tried a game out on both one after another. how would you know. mostly noticeable in campaign, but you can tell that ps3 looks not as good. play the second level i beleave. you follow a wire to a bomb and have to disarm it. at the spot of the bomb you can substantially noticed the difference. yeah bf does leave some unrealistic stuff in. but dude arma is not that much cooler. they both have good graphic and all. but what is so real about NO BULLET DROP OR WIND. its sad since they tell you the meters and you can make adjustments, but yet no bullet time or drop. so real, yet it seems like bf3 realism with none realism.

I still can’t believe this. So if I want to get the so called “Exclusive” dogtags, I have to buy another copy of my supposedly “Free” Specact Skins too? There has to be a law that EA is breaking by doing this.

    1. They promised us “Exclusive” items for preordering their game, which are not exclusive anymore…

    2. They have told us the items we are getting were free, when we have to pay for another (useless) copy of them later if we want the other thing.
