BF3 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Commo Rose was a much requested feature for Battlefield 3, but the version that managed to ship with the game is awkward and practically useless, as it’s missing key commands — the two most needed commands (“Need ammo”, “need medic”) are not there. Now according to DICE sound producer Tomas Danko, DICE have updated Commo Rose quite a lot, so much in fact, that they’re referring to it as “Commo Rose 2.0″. Danko recently Tweeted:
“We have patched and updated comrose big time, it will be distributed shortly.” “It’s so updated we refer to it as comrose 2.0. Soon in a patch near you.
”
Danko also confirmed that players will be able to request ammo and medic help with the 2.0 system. Commo Rose a communications interface used by holding down the “Q” button, where after a menu pops up where players can issue commands, request stuff, etc. No word on when the next patch will be released.
So the morons finally gave in! Good, maybe some day the game will be what the community wants it to be
Pity it’ll probably still be stuck on Q, as there’s no mention of a KeyBinding Fix….
Since we just got Patch 3, I guess Patch 4 then?
what keybinding fix? i swapped Q and Z, my Q is prone.
It’s taking pretty long to finally give us a comma rose that isn’t useless.
Nevertheless, I’m happy they are giving us this. The game is starting to feel more and more completed.
I just hope that the request for a medic or ammo will appear in the chat box also, just like in the past games

You fail to miss the entire point, whether by accident or on purpose.
PC Gamers have been getting the short end of the stick from EVERYWHERE for years now, because of some ass who figured “PC Gaming is Dead” and started up a Plague of Stupid (Ubisoft even starting to cancel PC Ports for Games now, Ghost Recon Future Soldier PC is dead… >.>). The only Developer left who REALLY still gives about us is DICE, so yeah, we like to hang on to whatever “PC Exclusive” Feature/s they care to give us. In this case, its Commo Rose. Especially since they’ve already said FU to the Mod Crowd who was eagerly looking forward to Modding Frostbite 2.
Valve is also one of the dev teams who is still dedicated to the PC gaming @Implied
I think both of you, you and Implied have a point, but most of all an opinion woth mentioning. Im a PC user, but still I agree to your comment about these spammers going on about on their eliticism, as well as Implieds comment about the where the gaming development industry has been headed the last couple of years. All Im saying is that you both have a point, no need to be aiming them at eachother since youre probably not representing the target of your argument, either one of you. Therefore misunderstanding eachother completely.
BF3 is shaping up, and to me it seems that this game is here to stay for a very long time.
This is already done for consoles. All you have to do is aim at a medic, support, or a guy in a vehicle and press back (xbox) or select (ps3) that simple dude. Alot of people don’t know this so spread the word cuz when im usually medic people just stand in front and shoot at me and im like wtf is wrong with this guy.
Yeah this system is fine the 1/10 of time that it actually works. Some people actually prefer the comma rose, and it’s very much understandable.
I think people would actually use a comma rose way more then that back button crap, which they almost never use anyway. At least with the comma rose you can have a bit of fun…
I’ll be blunt: Some people seem to be misunderstanding comm rose on consoles;
We only get to call for a medic, for ammo, and for a ride.
We have to look at the medic to call for health which wastes precious time looking for a medic while you’re under fire, while in the upcoming patch all you have to do is press two keys and every medic in the area is notified.
We have to find and look at a support soldier to ask for ammo while you’re out of stinger rockets being pelted by rockets from a helicopter.
We can’t say “Go!” to signal an attack when you have a squad of people working together.
We can’t say “Thank you” to the medics who save our lives by reviving us to show our appreciation.
We can’t call for backup whenever we wish when we are under heavy enemy fire.
We can’t apologize for a mistake we made so your squad doesn’t hold a grudge on against you for doing something wrong.
We can’t respond with a simple “Affirmative/Negative”.
To PC players who are against consoles having a commo rose;
*why* exactly do you even care? You don’t have to play with consoles, and consoles don’t have to play with you online.
In the end, we are all here to play the same amazing game, and consoles should not be exempt from using such a useful feature that can be relatively easily implemented and, of course, heavily used by console players if it is ever implemented.

If you are a PC player and against the console command rose, WHY do you even care in the first place? We are all here to play the same game, so why are you trying to suppress improvements for the same game title that you play?
Ontop of that, you PC plays with other computer users online. You don’t ever have to play with console players. Even if you did, it would be BETTER for them to have a commo rose.
Before you start bashing consoles over wanting a new game improving feature because you’re a mighty PC user, keep in mind that you are playing the same game title as us, just in a different way.
then they have to fix that medics or support acually can see it properly now. still almost impossible to see with all the medic packs laying around on the map and other shit displayed that is only able to differentiate between when zoomed in on minimap.
you can also use it to highlight objectives to attack and defend

I’ve heard that consoles has to few resources to have commo rose.
People like exclusives. PS3 people like content and extras that other platforms don’t get. Same with Wii, xbox360, and PC gamers. It helps people feel better about their platform of choice.
PC gamers probably have slightly more warrant to feel pissed about lack of exclusives, particularly technological ones. The PC platform is capable of so much more, so it pisses off PC gamers when they feel like console crossdevelopment is holding back the experience. Console players would feel the same way if there was such a large gap, technologically speaking. Just think of how annoying it would be to have psp games ported to xbox360; it might not be optimized or properly take advantage of xbox360-specific tech.
Surely everyone can understand why it’s a bit annoying to pc gamers to have to missing features that were on past pc games (a long time ago) or not take advantage of pc-specific tech.
Why would we need commo rose on consoles when we have working voice chat. Oh, wait, we don’t have working voice chat.

Finally it’s getting fixed.
In the meantime, colorblind mode adds a clear gray outline to the selected comm-rose command.
I bet 95% of support will still be unaware that someone around them needs ammo.
The trick is to look at your minimap, but that isn’t that useful in the middle of a firefight as you are busy keeping track of a lot more other stuff.
They should do it as I do it:
Throw them ammo boxes in ya faces!
I just stand in front of them and jump in their face.
They should add BITCH GIVE ME THE AMMO! in the middle of their screens, but they are still bound to miss it.
I just hope that they make those commands heard and/or seen on the minimap/chat box, because there is almost no point of just hearing someone shout for help, and no way of knowing where they are.
After the B2K patch, you can see people on the minimap who are requesting a medic. Not sure about the other commands
Highlighting their gamer tag would also help.

Consoles and RTSs don’t work well together, and Commander would add massive Gameplay differences, changing the entire way we play on PC. Too much effort from DICE for just one Platform.
Plus more importantly, the Difficulty would spike. They can’t have that. Think of the poor CoD Kiddies

A) I agree RTS don’t work on consoles as much as I have tried T_T, sad memories.
However that would not be too much of a problem in a mode that is not very much like an RTS. Hell I would like an improvement over the old commander, but even if that happens the commander feature would still be more basic than an RTS, so it shouldn’t have problems from the controllers as you won’t really need hot-keying and the pointer response is not too bad.
B) You can easily add commander feature later on the game so the CoD kids that don’t like difficulty would have given up by that point and any player would have been somewhat competent and knowledgeable about the game.
You mean like, Unlocks all Classes at level XX (say 30) or available only on Hardcore Mode? Problem with 2nd is they’ve turned HCM into a glorified Softcore Mode so that would be stupid. Unlocking at a specific Level… Hm. Who knows what DICE is thinking these days. PC even launched without In-Game VoIP >.>

Yes, this bug has been arround for a while now, also they need to split spot / commo rose button.
Does the comm rose in its present form even work right now?, i never hear anyone use it and when i use it nothing happens.
Nice to see they are improving it tho.
That’s because:
Battlefield 2 -> soldiers used the radio chatter (very clear and easy to understand)
Battlefield 3 -> the soldiers “shout” what they want (rarely noticeable if a lot of shit is going on)
Radio commands are old school bro. Shouting is the latest technology.
Maybe, in BF4, we can send smoke signals like the indians did. But I don’t know if DICE could implement something like that in their game because that technology is far beyond our knowledge. The indians were highly intelligent though.
Yeah the current Commo Rose is beyond broken. It didn’t make the Gold Build for Launch and they patched it badly with the Day 1 Patch, it screamed Rush Job.
I just hope this “2.0″ isn’t Overhype. 2.0 =/= adding “Need Ammo” and “Need MedKit”… That’s more like 1.5.

Well, don’t know if anyone else has noticed. But ever since the patch on Tuesday. When u use the need ride/get in command on the rose, Vehicles with teamates/teammates around your vehicle blink on the mini map with a car icon.
So it kind of works. But a long ways from the bf2 commo rose
I’d really like to see them bring back the squad rose w/ 3d markers. The command “request objectives” would really force squad leaders to do their job.

they shouldnt add this to consoles because pc deserves it. not console players. i play bf2 on pc. and bf3 on xbox ( im poor). and if they did add this to consoles.. all it would be is spam from kids. plus i never get ammo anyway from them.

You guys seem to forget the last 2-4 years. Yes, the golden “next gen” years. The way PC players are thinking and expressing their opinion about console players is because the PC gaming ALWAYS got the dirty end of the stick. We got crappy ports, unfinished games, not optimized (hell on some software/hardware configs some games didn’t even work and it was never patched!), modding was removed (the biggest and best ability you have for a game on the PC is to do stuff you want..), DLC (yes, it’s the worst thing that came with consoles and we had to suck it up), ect. It’s not like we hate you guys, but a lot of you seem to think that you deserve everything and the PC has to accept it. We accepted 4 years of shitty games (although some might’ve been good, but the performance was so bad that the games were no fun at all). In my opinion this Fanboyism/Elitism sucks, but with this post I’m trying to show you guys why a lot of pc gamers are acting like a spoiled child.
Let’s hope that developers get up from their lazy asses and start to develop games for consoles and PC and stop porting from console to PC.

I don’t understand why some noobs find it so difficult to look at an objective and press Q. That’s it, that’s all you have to. Your entire squad gets more points, you get more points. And all you have to do is press Q. Seriously.

No, squad leaders only, and yes it is very annoying when they don’t select targets!
I normally tell them to do it and if they don’t then I just switch squads.
You have obviously either:
1) never played bf3. Or
2) haven’t tried to issue a command in the game rendering you a hypocrit.

I just ask them to do if they refuse i just change to another squad(no biggie everyone was a noob once)
Also before i join a squad i often have a look at a squads kdr if their kdrs are mostly negative i try avoid joining their squad if possible unless its friends playing in the squad. To high of a kdr can also sometimes mean they just camp it up so i try aim for squads with a average positive kdr.
Changing squads is an option, but not all the time. Currently there aren’t enough squads to fit all 32 players of a team, and every other squad might be full, empty, or the only thing I find more annoying than useless squad leaders: locked with only 2 squad members.
I proposed what I think is a great solution to the squad leader problem during the livechat with the developers, but obviously it was ignored.
My suggestion is as follows: If a squad leader doesn’t issue an attack order within 5 minutes, the game automatically rotates him in the squad and puts the next player as squad leader. I presume that a squad leader who doesn’t issue commands doesn’t care if he’s a squad leader or not, so he won’t mind being changed when he doesn’t issue an order. If a player is the squad leader and he issues at least one order every 5 minutes, he stays as leader and everybody wins. If everyone fails to issue an order, the position keeps rotating, no one is hurt.
As for locked squads, I understand some people will want to lock a squad so all their friends can join, but please only lock squads when they are full! There’s no benefit in having a 2 man locked squad. Unless you’re secretly statpadding in the corner of the map and you don’t want anyone to find out, there is no reason, whatsoever, to lock a squad with less than 4 people. You’re depriving other players from accessing a squad.
EDIT to the above.
The procedure for making sure your friends can join your squad is to lock the squad, invite all your friends, and then unlock it once they’ve all joined. PLEASE REMEMBER TO UNLOCK IT ONCE THEY HAVE ALL JOINED.
If you only have one friend joining your squad, unlock it as soon as he has joined so other people can join too. Don’t be a douche.
They should put the commo rose commands in the chat with blue and red colors like in BF2 !!!

Squad Leaders like in BF2.
Squad Orders like in BF2.
UI and objective icons you can hide in like BF2.
Transparent HUD like in BF2.
Vehicle horns like in BF2.
Commander like in BF2.
Battlefield 3 is not Battlefield 2 HD edition.

You’re right, Battlefield 3 is not Battlefield 2 HD. But it’s supposed to be the successor to Battlefield 2. The list above is a list of features characteristic to the Battlefield series since Battlefield 1942 all the way to Battlefield 2142 and its expansion packs. Not to mention obvious improvement to gameplay.
Battlefield 3 lacks the majority of the things that defined the Battlefield series. At the moment, the only similarity it has is the name Battlefield.
Maybe the bastards should also fix Q being hardcoded. SO RIDICULOUS.

I agree its very stupid but dumbing down the Game would just make it even more fail. Its already depressing enough that Hardcore Mode has been reduced to being some Glorified Softcore Mode without needing to have Semi-Auto-MedKit or Semi-Auto-Ammo now as well.
May be they should add a another feature too : when you are a driving a tank and your tank is disabled you should press a botton and a repair tool automaticaly drop out of an engineer and repair you !

umm dude mabey you haven’t been playing recently but there has been atleast one more update on the xbox sice the update makind the Ivrn scope less strong and making the flashlites less bright (at lest from far away) and other fixes

We, yes we, the PC community complain because we want a SUCCESSOR to our beloved Battlefield 2. And as the past has shown with enough constructive critisism and enough dedication, we can help to improve the game. And if everyone would have such a “I don’t care” attitude, the game would be even more softcore and in the end everyone would play it like it’s Call of Duty.
