I hope they backport the enhanced destruction to the stock BF3 maps some day; not complaining but let’s face it BF3 release was rushed and the amount of bugs and lack of refinements like these make it obvious.

Quite a lot of them remind me of MoH maps to be honest. Though they haven’t been designed to take damage. They would need some serious reforming before they are capable of doing so.
A lot of people argue that they prefer balance over destruction, but I cannot image making balanced destructible maps as being impossible.

The problem is that with the exception of Tehran Highway the terrain is completely flat. The hill in Caspian can’t count because it’s a flag but look at the rest of caspian… No hills, gulleys cliffs etc for helicopters to hide behind, tanks to climb, snipers to spot from etc… The only map that partially suceeds at this is Kharg Island, and even then the Mountains are only really useful if you are in a Jet.

Remember the varying terrain in Port Valdez and Arica Harbour in BC2 that could be used as cover/vantage points? And how about the BF2 maps? With the exception of Back to Karkand (it was more urban) they all provided many terrain features to help vehicles and infantry move undetected. BF3 relys too much on buildings for this.

I play on PS3 and to be honest, I don’t like the fact we get stuff early either. I find it to be a really cheap marketing technique on Sony’s part.

Come on! Different systems has always had these kind of marketing techniques. You know Microsoft had ONE MONTH Black Ops DLC earlier for X360!

Not only, I believe it continues for MW3 as well.

Odd though, they could have gotten more people to pre-order from Origin if they’d done a One-Week Exclusive there (Pre-Order/Buy from Origin, One-Week Exclusive DLC Access). After all, they do own it, and they’ve tried so many pathetic ways to get people to use the damn thing…

Good to know PS3 gets it one week early though, instead of it being delayed for 1 week on PC/Xbox 360.

General rule is that if there is an uneven amount of flags on CQ large, minus 1 flag off it to get the console version.

I highly doubt that console will leap from 4 flag maximum to 6, but there will proably be at least 5 flags to keep up with 7 on the PC. even with 4 flags at the moment it seems pretty hectic with 24 players.

No way they would decrease 7 flags to 3 though, that would be stupid.

^Too bad consoles use the 16-player version of Karkand, which has 3 flags.

Not to worry, those 3 flags delivered so much fun to smaller servers and competitive BF2 that you will find it great!

Sad you won’t be able to visit the industrial section, console guys. That’s almost 40% of the original map.

Gameplay Video from PS3 a while back showed 3, so either the Map we saw was incomplete (IIRC was either Karkand or Oman) or that Map, and most likely the other 3 in BtK, will have 3 Objectives on the Console Versions.

Probably more like 3-ish for the PS3 Version, less than 4 for the PC/Xbox 360 Version. If they’re planning to release it in December that probably means Holiday Discount, which means Mid-December-ish.

Looks Nice, but i would appreciate it if dice would stop being lazy and give console players more than 3 flags or else it wont even look nearly as god as this trailer, and it will be too hyped up for nothing. i mean ya there’s 24 players max but the maps are still huge and about same size as pc. not hard to put 1 or 2 more capture points and spreading out the flags. lets see if dice listens to us this time and grants our wish!!!!!!!

Why do you call DICE lazy? Microsoft and Sony are lazy, or we should rather call them greedy.

24 players = 3 flags. That’s it. I wouldn’t have fun with 5 flags on a big map with lag. Also, it would be a fucking ghost-town.

In fact, the real problem is the console’s hardware, don’t blame DICE, blame Micro$oft and $ony.

i wouldn’t blame them outright, more like i would blame EA and the aging consoles themselves. You can’t blame a company for having old hardware. also i bet that the console game probably would have been closer to the PC version had EA given DICE more time to work on it.

Better destruction… With BtK, but why..?
Because EA rushed DICE to release BF3 earlier than MW3… I think, we could get a better game (not meaning graphics, maps and etc), a proper commo-rose (looks like last-minute job.), maybe better destruction. I also found out, ground deformation is currently ON, don’t know why there wasn’t two days ago, maybe some testing. BF3 still is a great masterpiece, I enjoy playing it, I’ll play it for long times, I’ll buy BtK, but; I always will think EA rushed DICE.

    About video…
HOLY-SHT, awesome! I personally liked that yellow-grey tint of Karkand is not here anymore (I hope there won’t be a blue-tint, though.), and destruction looks proper. Can’t wait to get my hands on it. :)

Also, does anybody know how to purchase BtK? I haven’t got a credit-card, so my plan is going to my friend (he has credit-card), login with my Origin account, then buy BtK with his credit-card number and pay the cash. Does/will it work?
And, do we get a code when we buy BtK, then redeem it? Can anyone help?
    Many thanks. :)

I pre-ordered BF3: Limited Edition for my brother on Origin by logging into his account and buying it for him with my card, so it should work for you too.

As for the code, not sure how that will work. It will probably be emailed to you.

Agree, EA pushed it out early to “steal” some MW3 Sales, all the while flaunting it around as a “CoD Killer” only to give us an un-finished product. While its not terrible, when something like Joysticks and Commo Rose don’t make the Gold Build and need to be added in with a Day 1 Patch, that’s just bad.

Hopefully EA learns from this and lets DICE do their own thing. Its funny, BF3 had 8.1 Million Beta Users (going by the Stats DICE revealed) and yet only sold 5 Million Units in the 1st Week. *Hint Hint – Fans Don’t Like CoD-Wanna-Be Betas*

Destruction is decent. More effects but no substance. I don’t want to see random chunks of concrete blowing up into millions of pieces, I want buildings collapsing like in BC2. And I want all buildings to be like that. Given enough ordinance the large apartment blocks should come down, too.

They said the Destruction in BC2 which allowed you to raise and level the entire Map with enough effort was OP, so they won’t be doing it again to that scale. This new scale however seem to have found a great in-between point, as from what I can see, Buildings can be almost entirely destroyed.

All this destruction looks great, but I still REALLY REALLY hope the bridge at Train Wreck is indestructible.

Once a single US tank rolled over the piles of MEC mines on that bridge, the gaping hole led to some fun firefights across the river, but the stalemate lasted THE ENTIRE REST OF THE GAME, and it happened way too often.
