BF3 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
The animal rights movement, represented by PETA, have issued a press release in Germany criticizing Battlefield 3 over “animal cruelty”. Specifically, PETA points out a singleplayer mission (mission 3) in Battlefield 3 where the player has to stab a rat, and toss it away.
PETA states that the killing of even a virtual animal could inspire young people to do such acts in real life. According to PETA, recent animal cruelty cases in Germany, where youngsters engaged in animal cruelty, were inspired by video games and movies. As PETA puts it in the press release:
The realistic computer game “Battlefield 3″ treats animals in a sadistic manner. The game gives players the option to kill a rat with a combat knife in the back in order to then lift it by its tail, then toss it away. Killing virtual animals can have a brutalizing effect on the young male target audience. There have been repeated cases of animal cruelty in Germany, where young people kill animals. Inspiration behind these acts often came from movies and computer games.

Whilst I see animal charities as a waste overall, since animal cruelty is generally derived from the treatment people undergo. I am now even more convinced they waste the money they receive.

contrary to popular belief, rats didnt carry the black plague, it was the fleas that were on them and other animals at the time, rats actually killed the fleas, therefore helping end the black plague

WTF? It was the great London fire which wiped out the rats and the fleas (and pretty much 9/10th of London) that ended the plague.

Wasn’t trying to compare GTA and Battlefield. I was just comparing situations about people believing that kids go around and imitate video games in real life everyday.
Please PETA didn’t act in MW2 when you killed civilians at the airport, they didn’t act in Red dead redemption where you got to hunt,skin and sell animal pelts,they didn’t act in these fishing shows, They didn’t look at the MW3 trailers when you shoot suicide c4 dogs, and where you kill a bear.They didn’t look in others where you torture animals, seems like PETA means Paid.Executives.To look.Another direction.

Yeah, there are animal hunting games rated for everyone..? Now in Battlefield 3 you must kill one rat(that would happen in real life 2) to continue the game what’s rated for M.
