BF3 trollBattlefield 3 is “missing” many features which were in previous Battlefield games, features such as a server browser for PC players. The Battlefield 3 beta is in full swing, and most players have noticed something else missing from Battlefield 3: squad management. It’s not possible to manage a squad in-game, or to choose which squad to join — squads are created automatically and players are randomly assigned to squads (so it seems).

PC players in particular have been surprised over the lack of these features, especially since squad management is available in console versions of Battlefield 3. And for PCs? According to DICE Community Manager Daniel Matros (via Twitter), squad management and voice chat has been moved to Battlelog. Having to switch to Battlelog to create or join a squad is, to put it mildly, unintuitive. Most PC systems cannot handle the constant Alt-Tab between applications, especially RAM-heavy ones like games.

Matros did add that you will still be able to see your squad in-game (obviously), but shifting yet another game mechanic/feature to Battlelog seems overkill. We’ve been playing the beta via Battlelog on PC for a while now, and honestly, we’d prefer an in-game server browser. Judging form the feedback on Twitter and in EA Forums, Battlefield fans are not too happy about this new way of managing squads.

What’s next, go to Battlelog to change your kit?

Thanks for the tip, Paul!

Fuck ea, love DICE. We all know who is fucking this game up. I’m amazed they are able to ruin the game so badly with this system of their’s (Battlelog).

You’re kidding right? You think DICE couldn’t put server browsers and squad in because EA wanted them in battlelog? They are in this together, DICE is a company like any other, and the publisher of the game isn’t making these terrible decisions.

Step into reality people, DICE has been the one causing problems with bf3, they aren’t some godsent business out here trying to give us perfect games for free while mean old EA stops them.

Granted, battlelog was EAs idea, but it was DICE who decided what game features they would put on there.

Do you think DICE decided to use battlelog? If it were up to them I’m sure they would implement in-game server browser’s. However, DICE are being puppeteered by EA, who want origin all over everything. This is the reason they are pushing battlelog so hard, so they can link it into origin and make more money. DICE does the hard work, while EA make’s sure it’s finger’s are firmly in the pie…

im not exactly sure but seeing as ea has the money, they have the power to mandate whatever they want. ea wants something that can compete with elite. theyre too dumb to see that piling all of the features of the game into battlelog may make IT a better feature in itself, but it diminishes the game quality.in short, ea is making these decisions.

agreed, EA most likely said here’s Battlelog, now add, lets say 12 features from in game to this feature, no less. So Dice most likely had no choice and figured these would be some of the more easier things to transition to and from for gamers.

I have been sick of people saying that the dev is the damsel in distress and EA is the evil overlord. After all, DICE sold out to EA. THEY ARE PART OF THE COMPANY NOW. Some of the devs might have have objected, but the BOD sold out. But I can definately see EA independently working some sort of DRM here. That seems to be all this battlelog thing is for.
      Fuck EA DICE.

What are you guys all talking about, these features are AWESOME:

      - Origin DRM
      - Battlelog DRM (You need it even to play Offline Campaign, no Game Menu at all)
      - Battlelog – I mean isn’t this just awesome? Our very own Social Network just for Battlefield 3. After all, CoD just got it’s own, so we need one too! Gotta stay competitive folks.
      - Play With Friends (But only if you’re all on Battlelog joining together….)
      - Kill Cam (Thankfully there’s still Hardcore Mode…..)
      - Overall dumbed down Gameplay (compared to Battlefield 2 anyway, lack of Commander, and more)
      - Beta with Call of Duty style Map to excite Cross-overs
      - No Settings Configuration Option since there’s no Game Menu
      – Although, this issue will be solved when we can access Campaign and do Settings from there, so Beta-Only issue really.
      - Ability to disable Punkbuster Anti-Cheat Technology.
      - Mod Tools? Meep. Sorry. They’re too complicated.

      - Lead Development Platform: PC. That’s why we get all “Teh New Age Goodiez”, and Consoles get stuck with the Classic In-Game Server Browser + Game Menu Page. But hey, its all good. After all, PS3 gets DLCs one week in advance, right?

We got the best features ever, and exactly what we all want! Thanks EA + DICE for truly paying attention to the Community, and NOT turning Battlefield 3 into a CoD Switch-Over Game.

See what I did there? ;)

Battlefield 3: reputed to be developed with PC as their lead platform. What they didn’t tell you was that the PC would literally be the new gaming consoles. No menus? Fine. No in-game browser, okay. No squad management or chat? Seriously?

DICE, this is a great game mechanically-speaking, but you guys are seriously making some stupid mistakes with the seemingly-small things. This would be okay if all three platforms were missing these features, but to give them to the XBOX and Playstation is a clear indication that implementing these is perfectly doable, yet you consciously choose to slap PC players in the face.

Dice’s Board of Directors agreed to the buyout by EA. If they wanted to they could’ve negotiated to prevent stuff like this from happening. Either through short sightedness because of the dollar signs or whatever, they chose to allow themselves to be in the developmental corner. Either that or they’re choosing to do this of their own free will. Either way, the game is excellent, the execution of it is all wrong.

          Only Lying?

What about the ridiculously broken DRM Technology they put on their Games, and then back them up with claims that “Hey, look, they work! They keep Piracy down!” Which they actually don’t, and actually, drive even more people to Piracy out of rage, and not to mention, causes them sales losses from people who don’t want to Pirate the Game but don’t want to buy a Game that requires a Constant Internet Connection either.

Not that Ubisoft would have such a big Piracy Issue if they didn’t make so many ridiculously bad Console Ported Games for the PC in the first place…

But hey, for them, whatever makes them look good at Board Meetings works. Even if its total bullshit.

Battlelog is a dissapointment even as a server browser. I’d be outraged tbh if I’d have to put up with switching to battlelog every time i switch a squad.
