BF3 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

For Bad Company 2, DICE introduced a new concept for Battlefield Veterans, who had played previous Battlefield games: they’d get a unique weapon to use, which was the WW2 rifle M1 Garand. Battlefield 3 will be getting a Veteran weapon as well, and it’ll be the M1911, the famous .45 caliber pistol that has been used for over 100 years.
But you don’t have to be a Battlefield Veteran to get the M1911, you can get one by becoming a member of EA Gun Club — you can sign up here for free. The Gun Club page mentions to sign up and “unlock” the M1911, which indicates that the gun might be available as an unlock to everyone, while Gun Club members will get it much earlier.
Ahh the M1911, so beautiful. Something new would’ve been cool though.
Yeah, I was kind of hoping something strange that’s been in a previous battlefield game, but never saw multiplayer action. Remember the first mission in BC2 where you have to take that chinese weapon that resembles the WWII M1 Garand? That would have been an awesome Veteran weapon! The thompson would have made a nice veteran weapon return as well.
Ooh dont forget in the first mission in BC2, we also got to use the Japanese sub-machine gun

M1911 is by far the greatest weapon ever created. It was built over 100 years ago and is still in use today. There could be no better reward for being a Battlefield Veteran than being able to use this beautiful handgun.
Does anyone know if it is a WWII one or a modernised one? I would probably JIMP right now if it were a modernised one.

To be a “Battlefield Veteran” you need to have previous Battlefield Games installed on your Machine right? Or do you need to input the code from another BF Game?
Don’t remember anymore, its been a while.
Those need to be associated to your EA account. Thats all.
I think you have to have previous Battlefield games linked to your EA profile.
At this point I’ve lost track of whether that means EA Online, Origin, Gun Club, or if those are all the same thing.
If you ever have trouble getting your veteran status to update, talk to the lovely reps from all round the world
at support.ea.com/chat and they’ll get you fixed right up.

All those poeple complaingin about usless news, wanting to know when the beta was coming out just run out of excuses for whining. THIS are great news, as anything that’s got something to do with BF3. Don’t care if it’s old or usless, a lot of people didn’t know it ’till now or actually find it interesting. I really enjoyed this weapon in BC2 and I’m really looking forward using the new version.
One thing i’m still sort of confused on:
I’ve already seen Alpha gameplay from back in August when they showed the modernized M1911. Does that mean there will be ANOTHER M1911 that is the old version? If so that will be kick-ass. If not, it will still be kick-ass, I love the way the gun looks, sounds, and feels in the game, and real life. *cuz I own one, u jelly? jk

IDK, nothing suggests there’s gonna be an older version too. The one in the Alpha probably was an unlocked version for testing purposes.

I think it’s not even used in actual wars, so it’s fine for me. Reminds me too much of CoD.
The Israeli military uses the desert eagle.
They don’t “use” the Desert Eagle, they made it to shoot the engine blocks of cars.
The Israeli army use the Jericho and Barak which are reliable and prove themselves during the wars, but the IDF use the desert eagle to disable Cars (from what i heard)

The IDF, some PMC’s, and the Mexican Cartels are pretty much the only people that use Desert Eagles with any consistency.
The IDF use a Desert Eagle but not of the caliber that’s used to put out engine blocks. They use a 9mm Desert Eagle with texture grips.

My only beef is that I don’t want them to add the “WW II” moniker in front of the M1911.. In BFBC2, it is pretty stupid to be killed by a “WW II” (Garand, 1911, Thompson) weapon in a modern era combat game. Being that BF3 is even more up to date, it would be VERY silly to see a “WW II” era weapon in use.. After all, there are modern M1911 models made today.. Would you rather use a 70year old pistol, or a new one?? …just call it the “M1911″…
The new modern-day M1911′s really aren’t changed that much from the original. All they changed was the piston engine inside to fit a modern-day round, but the general layout of the weapon is still the exact same. I would not mind seeing (WWII M1911) popping up on my screen, it reminds me of how kick ass America used to be.

I mean War-wise. We used to be so into war. Now we just approve of it. Back in WWII, EVERYONE got involved. Car makers started making special war vehicles, heck, even weapons. Remember the Grease Gun? That was made in a car factory *Ford, I think…* That’s what I mean.

I loved the m1 in 1943 and bc2. I think I used the m1 more than the m14 in bc2.
i use the M1 for close to medium maps and i use the M14 with a 4X for long range….i just love the look of the M1 and M14 so much! i even have a M14 airsoft gun lol
thats usually the first gun i go with when i start playing for the day in BC2 no matter short long medium rang lol. all you gotta do is pop off 3 shots and hes down

I liked the M1911 in BC2, it was powerful.. but sometimes I got stuck in a situation where it didn’t have enough bullets, as silly as that seems I use pistols as a backup weapon when there is not enough time to reload main weapon xD
lol not shame in that at all. yea ive been using the m1911alot to get my gold stars on it and it is notorious for killing you when you run out of ammo
especially when you panic cause theres 3 guys rushing you and you drop 1 and have no ammo in either gun X.x then you get knifed like a noob XD had that happen twice tonight lol

will we see any New York maps (op metro is paris) or jungle maps or mountain maps with avalanches or some night time maps which would be cool just give me ANYTHING besides those durka durka or the generic factory maps like EVERY game has.
no one likes the avalanche idea : ( its always the avalanche that makes people dislike, maybe because of moh mountain maps were a pain in the ass, also i hope don’t overdo the city maps, and no factories or enemy base maps because thats been done a thousands times, how come people dislike and don’t say why?

avalanche sounds awful but jungle is a good idea for vietnam mod for example. Anyway i can see clearly that u have no idea about real battlefield. factories, airfields, oil rafineries, supply paths are important from strategic point of view, battlefield is simplified and i would like to see more realistic game mods like rush only when you die u have to wait like minute for respawn or 2 so you would have to have a plan good communication and strategy to take down a point which is defended by other team. more game modes – yes, avalanches – no

Im actually disappointed…DICE said that it wont be a WW2 weapon and it is!!!! And to make me even more sad its a pistol…i hardly even use pistols
The M1911 is not a World War 2 weapon, although it was used in World War 2.

I say an entire WWII weapons package for download (Garand, Thompson, BAR, Mp40, etc.) would be the last little tiny cherry on top of the icing on the cake for BF3. anyone agree?

wasup evry1 i was watching some alpha footage of bf3 on youtube & they were a couple vids with the guys using the m1911 colt so maybe it will be a unlock. i loved the m1911 colt on bc2 it had GREAT stopping power it was a 3 shot kill up close! i love the fact that if you have a pistol & some guy has like a AUG you have a chance @ killing him head on unlike some shitty games *COUGH* shit of duty

lol all the veteran weapons in Bad Company 1 and 2 only required a status of 1, which means all you needed was that Battlefield game.
Actually your veteran status is every Battlefield game/expansion you own, -1. SO to put it simply, you have to own 2 Battlefield games to have a Veteran status of 1.
Expansion are not included in the vetern status.

It pissed me off when i made my veteran status when bfbc2 came out bexause the whole reason was so i could unlock the awesum f2000 on bfbc1, but in the end after talkn to like 4 ea techs and countless wasted hours on the phone AND making me a vet 6, after the first 200000 f2000′s were given out they shut it down. So im a registered vet who couldnt even unlock it. Its EXCLUSIVE to some but not for ppl who satisfied the conditions of the vet program. Oh well water under the bridge. I got my 1911 last night and its ok.
