BF3 Team Deathmatch
There have been plenty of reveals at GamesCom over the past few days, one of which involves the new game mode in Battlefield 3: Team Deathmatch. DICE has confirmed that Team Deathmatch in Battlefield 3 will support 24 players on all platforms, and will be without vehicles. Team Deathmatch will be focused entirely on tight infantry portions of regular maps.

While 24 players doesn’t sound like much compared to 64 players in conquest mode, remember that the map is tighter, the gameplay is more focused and intense. Bad Company 2′s squad deathmatch was limited to 16 players and never managed to feel inadequate. Which leads us to squad deathmatch in Battlefield 3: it hasn’t been confirmed, but it’s easy to imagine 12 player teams be split up into 3 squads in Team Deathmatch.

because the maps will be tighter, if you want vehicles play conquest or rush, vehicles are awesome but a game mode without them will also be great, it depends what you want, if you want vehicles DON’T play deathmatch, its that easy.

You wanna know why there’s no vehicles in TDM?

Just look at CoD with the killstreaks in TDM.

Once a (few) good conscious player(s) get into an armored vehicle the game is over for everyone else on the other team.

Im actually a little surprised theres negativity towards no vehicles, personally ive always hated their inclusion in *some* of the game modes/maps.
Squad deathmatch for example, they give you a smallish map to have a decent scrap in, and dump an LAV in there and it makes it feel rather lob-sided. Yeah, theres the challenge of stopping others getting to it, but I cant help but feel that it would simply be *balanced* if it was all on foot.

For people who actually like the on-foot combat, and still use teamwork and tactics, your pretty much out of luck in BC2. Rush – Vehicles, Conquest – Vehicles, Sq. DM – Vehicle… and yey for 4v4 squad rush, all 3min of it.

Its nice to have a populated game mode where we can run around without someone plonking a tank on a hillside and shooting at random dots scrambling about, heli’s flying about when there isnt an effective anti-air weapon in there…
Im not fussed about TDM, but i’ll play it from time to time to get away from the tanks & co, it wont be as good as Cq but it’ll be nice to have a mode free from heavy & air vehicles.

By all means, i want plenty of vehicular mayhem in the bigger maps, i’d LOVE just the option of joining no-vehicle servers, but that doesnt seem to be possible. This is, for me, not the next best thing, but its better than always having them in there.
**im not 100% sure if there is a no-vehicles setting for PC hosts, but i dont recall ever joining one, and you cant quick search for them**

It would be unreasonable to expect a high player count in a deathmatch game mode. Can you even imagine how frustrating a 32 vs. 32 TDM game would be?

I’ve been wondering about that too, mainly why the Weapon & Vehicle info is missing the specialisations, cos theres some interesting little bits on there IMO.
Such as there being 7 types of Soldier specialisations, and Squad versions, meaning that speciailisation is assumingly given to everyone in the squad.
      Some co-ordination and you can go Ammo+, Armor/vest+, Pace+, suppression+
or you could all go ammo and possibly gain very little (maybe quad ammo boost?)

If only they announced last week that Commo Rose was in (for PC) ;)

As for 4 kits, theres not really much missing from the 6 kits that you cant achieve with 4. The only one i can think of is Spec-Op with his C4 and a carbine.
That was a nice little combo, especially when there was Arti, command center and radar station to earn pts and weaken the oppo.
THAT to me is a bigger loss (along with commander) than being told im one of 4 classes, rather than 6.

It isnt BF2 though, people need to accept that. Yeah theres features we’d all like, but we’re not getting them it seems, instead we’ve got a load of new ones and some people still complain about the past rather than look forward to the future. We should all be thankful its not getting the COD treatment of just changing the number at the end of the title and releasing it.

bf3 would be totally diffrent game if not fact that most of console players are still kids. EA/DICE are making money and they want to make as much as they can so they trying hard to satisfy all of us but its impossible. the worst thing is that PC players are the victims here. they choose to take some great features from the game in cost of better sales. if that make any sense :O

i think the reason they make bf3 more “console friendly” is because the Battlefield series has always been better than the Cocks on Duty series. the only thing cod is doing better, is the sales. for once, DICE is trying to compete with cod in the sale section too, and bf3 can be compared to cocks on duty: black cocks in pre-orders already.

Seems fair to me: it’s almost reminiscent of old Call of Duty games (e.g. the original Call of Duty) when it focused on tight infantry combat, no geographical objectives, and didn’t have all that killstreak crap. 12 vs. 12 without vehicles in a close quarters zone appears to be a good fit on paper. Heck, this might even convince more CoD fanboys to ditch that series and jump onboard the Battlefield bandwagon…for better or worse…
