Battlefield 3 Steelbook
If you’re getting a Limited Edition or Special Edition of a game, chances are the game will be packed in a pretty “Steelbook” box — basically a cover for games made in steel/metal. According to a Reddit member, who works at a place where they manufacture Steelbook cases, Battlefield 3 will be shipped in these cases at select European retailers.

Furthermore, EA Singapore has released some promo images on Facebook of the Steelbook edition, which you can see in the gallery after the break. Also, the images confirm that Battlefield 3 will ship on two discs. It’s very likely that the Limited Edition retail version of Battlefield 3 will be shipping in these Steelbook cases. Read on for the full gallery of the new BF3 box.

After all this sh*t EA pulls off, they can forget buying me off on their side with a simple steel case. Steam made the Orange box for their gaffes with Half-Life.

So, are the two discs required to play BF3, or is it one disc required to play BF3 and then the second disc is just extras? I hope BF3 isn’t going to run off two discs… I played Titanic a lot when I was young, and it required two discs, right in the middle of a mission it would just randomly say, “Please Eject Disc 1 and Insert Disc 2″. I hated that.

Personally, I think the inside design of the box should have been the outside design.

I don’t know about you guys but I’m kinda tired of seeing the same bf3 image on everything.

They should have a different image for the limited edition. Something badass. Maybe some sort of military looking case?

All the same, if you went out of your way to get a special edition of the game, I would hate to think the best they could do with the Steelbox design is the words “Battlefield 3″ on a black background.

Steel boxes for special editions of games has been used for a lot of games through time. It’s just a way to display prestige over the standard product, nothing else really. :P

Have we gotten any confirmation on what the LE contains? That second disc could be a collector’s DVD or something, rather than an actual game disc.

i think the second disk is for the Back to Karkand game data, since its technically an expansion pack for Battlefield 3 that you get for pre-ordering.

That wouldn’t make too much sense, since they’re not just shipping the preordered amount of these. They’d end up having a bunch of steel cases with an extra DVD slot and no extra DVD. Plus I doubt the six maps that come with Back to Karkand would require their own DVD.

So if you pre-ordered, you get this?

But yeah even if its a great plus, it will still stay where the rest of my games are stored…

I mean why would we care about something else then the game itself?

this is not a steel box … its a tungsten alloy box that is capable of blocking 20mm rounds and inside is a virtual world created by dice that makes you believe your in a real world so you have to choose to take the red pill or the blue pill

You’re waiting for a UAV to respawn, a UAV that will take you far away. You know where you hope this UAV will take you, but you don’t know for sure. But it doesn’t matter. How can it not matter to you where the UAV will take you?

If it can fit on two DVD discs then it should be able to fit on one blu-ray disc for the PS3, considering Blu-Ray can hold something like 6 times as much on them than most DVD’s. That is unless the second disc is a special ‘making of’ or a movie of some sort that is not gameplay related… even then they could probably fit it all on one Blu-Ray disc, and have the movie or whatever it is in some kind of ‘extras’ menu.

Unless those are for 2 Blu-Ray Discs… O_O lol if it was then Xbox would need like 12 discs.
