BF3 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
One of advantages PC gamers have had over consoles was the ability to pick and choose the multiplayer servers they played on. Now EA has confirmed that the server browser feature will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Battlefield 3. This makes Battlefield 3 one of the few multiplayer games on consoles that offers a server browser, where players are given more choice in terms of where to play, what maps to play on, game settings, game modes, and much more.
A server browser for consoles was a requested feature from many Battlefield fans, and it finally looks like consoles will be getting some more love from DICE. Hopefully we’ll see more PC features added to consoles, like the recently announced Commo Rose communications interface.

On top of that, just look how much PC players complained that MW2 didn’t have dedicated servers. They took that away from the PC community and the PC community started petitions. DICE took the server browser away from Console and no one said anything. And you’re trying to act like PC players don’t whine about stuff. HA!

That’s where you’re wrong. BF2 Modern Combat had a Server Browser in case you didn’t know. Modern Combat was playable on the PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360 and they took it away in BFBC1. We did have a server browser. Aside from that DICE is the greatest developer ever!

If there is a problem that can be optimized or fixed then it should be addressed and the player/consumer is responsible for letting their ideas and voice be heard.

I think that praising the good work that the companies do first and buying their game encourages them to make it better by doing more of whatever they did last time. I mean it wouldn’t be particualrly encouraging for DICE if when they confirmed commo-rose everyone said “Great, now where the f**k is my commander”. Just saying that we should be grateful for what we have, and not bite the hand that feeds us.
However if it gets to the level that CoD and their fanbase has sunk to, I say bite the hand that tries to feed you shit.

Ya. I kinda wish there was a way to view whats going on in a game. So you don’t enter a game only to find out your going against a team stack of 8 level 50s or something like that.

You are ungrateful. DICE decided it was best to leave some features out, but you think you’re so entitled you should be able to demand them back in. It’s THEIR game, they’re doing what THEY think is best. No, you shouldn’t be able to request anything and expect it to be in the game. Then there would be dinosaurs.

Really? No point? You’re really sitting here whining about console players getting a feature that should be standard in EVERY game with multiplayer? PCs will never be anything less than comparable to consoles, and that’s only right when consoles are launched. I’m primarily a console player, simply because it is less expensive, and I’ll even admit that. The tech advantage alone will mean that PCs will always be around. And think of it this way. If consoles every usurp PCs and make them pointless, well then consoles are PCs and everyone is back to PC gaming.
So it’s a bad thing that DICE is trying to please all their customers…?
Dice should try to include as many features as the can for all platforms. It’s a win win. It benefits users by giving them more options and a better experience, and in turn DICE benefits through improved sales.

Wow. DICE is really going all out for this game. I am incredibly impressed at all the news from the last couple days.
I’ve played alot of shooters on my PS3 because I did not have a game PC.
This is one of the (multiple) things I hated about consoles. It’s a very, very, very good thing that DICE allows everyone to choose his own game. This is coming from a PC gamer (I have a good PC now…), but I really have to say it: THANKS ALOT DUDES! =)

I myself am a pc gamer and I actually find this a nice decision. I don’t see why such simple things have to be left out of other versions of the game to please people. As I said I am a pc person and will play the game on pc so this doesn’t really affect me but is nice to know that dice listens to their fans and feedback.
I’m worrying about thie because now people choose the maps and settings… I really never played PC and the only game i know that has a feature like this is Socom so will there be ranked servers that have evrything the game comes with? Or will things be turnes off like claymores, gernade launchers, tanks? I’m sorry i know i sound like an idiot but i’m just worrying about that…
Considering the Console players likely won’t have the option to host servers, I think it’s a fair bet that you won’t see any of the BC2 PC shenanigan like 3000 ticket Heavy Metal conquest with instant vehicle respawns or anything like that in the console stuff. I doubt DICE would extend the option to completely unbalance the game to people who aren’t hosting servers. You’ll likely just get a list of EA hosted servers like you did in BF2:MC.
Thx for the info, thats what i was mainly worried about. Also was thinking that alot of maps wouldn’t be played. Do you know if you will be able to form a squad before you choose a server to play? Or do we all have to join the same sever and make the squad in game?

dont worry about that. Dice gave us 8 squads in BFBC2 on the PC as far as i remember
so basically thats 8×4 players to have their own squad=32 players can be in a squad per team. squads cant be locked in BF3 so you wont see 2 players using an entire squad slot. you will definitely find an empty slot for 4 players (you and 3 other friends max.)
you’ll probably have at least 6 of not 8 free squad slots, so dont worry.

we all wish this game will get GOTY but its not, its going to be skyrim or something like that. FPS that focus on MP have a lesser chance of getting GOTY.
MW2 somehow did it. If that can get a GOTY does DICE really want one? It wouldn’t prove anything because if MW2 could get it then they obviously hand them out like a pedophile with candy.
On another non-reply related note. In my personal opinion Commo Rose is pointless. I think PC players only wanted it back so that they can have the game look more like BF2. In this day and age you can get a cheap XBox mic and a 1/16th to 1/8th adapter to use it for your PC from Radio Shack for like $5. There’s no excuse for not having some sort of mic, especially since the feature is there and it’s far more effective. Get a headset and get in a Skype call or run a Steam call in the background. A general Commo Rose wouldn’t be used on Console at all, it would just take up a button on the controller that could be used for a more useful PC feature, like a menu for the Squad orders from BF2 on PC. I’d rather see a more in depth Squad command menu than a Commo Rose for the entire game. I also really don’t want to hear some voice over yelling at me that there’s an enemy spotted because someone is spamming the Commo Rose like they did in BF2 and 2142. Don’t know how anyone could complain about VoIP being noise pollution after playing BF2 and 2142, but I’ve heard it said.
And yes, I am aware that a lot of that spam is the Commander.

Yes, because 32 people all trying to speak at once wouldn’t be a disaster. Also voice chat limits you to your squad mates only, which is a big problem eapecially on console where there is no way to speak to the rest of your team at all. Also using a commo rose highlights certain things on the minimap which is very usefull. So commo rose isn’t there just for looks.
Yes there is the downside to commo rose, which is typically spamming… But it is no different then spamming in BC2. Except in BC2, the voip was not great, and not many people use it, so it becomes less reliable. Things like commo rose fill the gap and not only that, it allows cross talk between squads. Also you don’t have to stare at a person to get your point across when you have more important matters to pertain too. Yes spam is bad, but it is prevented to only so many shout outs, and I’m sure they will have it tweaked nicely to reduce the spamming. But seriously, sometimes it takes more than once to get someone to hear you, let’s face it, its Battlefield, and in real war, things will be chaotic, and sometimes things will have to be repeated twice plus it being loud. Commo rose has forever been a great feature, and I hardly run into many people who abuse it.
I used the Commo Rose to say thanks for ammo or medic, and used it to point out enemy and vehicles, I don’t see how it is a pointless thing to make it look like BF2.. it is a very usefull thing.

And they’re doing it the *right way* too; making the console version more like the PC rather than the other way around. I’m a console gamer, but I do agree with DICE that consoles shouldn’t hold back games technologically.
I was pretty frustrated with this game with all of EA’s bullshit last week, but DICE has way more than made up for it this week. Good on ‘em.

Can you give us the link to that, b/c i thought yoh could only spawn on tne squad leader, but the squad leader can spawn on anyone.

That’s what I thought as well. That squad leaders can spawn on any squad members and that the squad members could only spawn on the squad leader. Quoting from General Manager who also confirmed the Comma Rose: Squad members can spawn on any squad member.
