BF3 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
While we’re all waiting and wondering what new Battlefield 3 details DICE will release next, we get sidetracked with something completely unexpected. Like a new listing on Amazon and other online retailers for a Battlefield 3 book.
Naturally, there’s a chance that this could be a simple error on Amazon’s side, perhaps someone confused the book with the game. However, the game is already listed on Amazon and available for pre-order. Other online retailers such as Barnes & Noble have the Battlefield 3 book listed as well.
According to Amazon’s details on the book, it spans 400 pages and is written by DICE member Patrick Bach, alongside Andy McNab, who is a published author and former SAS operative. It’s easy to speculate about the contents of the book, as it could be a simple “behind the scenes” or “making of” book. However, with Andy McNab as the co-author, this could very well be the book version of Battlefield 3′s singleplayer storyline.
The book will be published by Grand Central Publishing and will be released on October 25, according to Amazon.

Some books based off video games are quite good. Republic commando and Gears of war for example. (Both written by Karen Traviss)
All the Halo books too! I bet this will be another awesome book at add to my collection though.

I highly doubt it will be the best. BF3 is really not about the story. I doubt this will be a novel now that I think about it. The story as far as I know is cliche. Russians attack and blah blah blah.

BF3′s storyline isnt about russians at all. Its about an organized revolution group in the middle-east.
its probably a collector’s edition prequel to the story with concept art,they do this all the time, like with fallout, also for fallout fans old world blues comes on tuesday the 19th

So far we’ve only heard about USMC and Russians in BF3 — pretty much like in BC2. Hopefully we’ll at least have one more faction, MEC or PLA.

boy I’m afraid to say that I liked COD4 without getting bashed. I’ve played and currently own every single BF. but I must say this elitism stuff is only giving us a bad name. a few good jokes here and there aren’t bad. in fact I encourage rivalry. but after seeing what happens when someone says they had a slight interest in any of the COD series….

While this is definitely a new step for Battlefield, I really can’t tell what to think. Either EA is publishing a book to earn a few bucks, which would really work against them and BF, which they are very careful about… Or, their singleplayer campaign is so solid that it requires a full book to dó it justice.
Anything that has 400+ pages is obviously well written. Take a look at the Harry Potter books for instance. Before they publish books and print millions of copies, they have to get it certified as a book at people would read. You can’t just type a bunch of nonsense and expect to have it published you know?

That’s basically what I said. EA would be stupid for multiple reasons if they just published a bad book to earn money. It would go against the image of seriousness and class that they’re trying to convey about BF3. So I doubt it will be complete shit. But the number of pages isn’t a testament to the quality within. Quite a few long books and movies are shit. “Days of our lives” is probably the best example! Long running, but terrible.

It adds more to a discussion (which this website really is all about) if you post additions to what people say or give more nuanced answers of your own. You can’t agree with Excision everywhere completely, sometimes you must at least think “He’s right, but…” or something along those lines. I encourage you to post your own answers, but if they’re already posted in entirety and with no remarks that you disagree with, then there’s really no need for you to say it again.
And also, for the record, Excision said basically the same thing I did this time around. So it’s not like agreeing settles some form of election

This makes no sense. Reading material 400+ pages can really only mean a novel, its unlikely the “Making of” would be that long.

This would mean that BF3′s story is beyond most video games, how the fuck can US vs Russians (and possibly other factions) make a decent novel??
Don’t get me wrong I’m dying for BF3 but the possibility of a good singleplayer story is slim. either that or the book listing is fake…
