Battlefield 3 PS3
Sony’s E3 press conference is currently underway, and we’re present with some great seats in this huge auditorium with thousands of people. Sony just announced that several EA games including Need For Speed The Run, SSX and Battlefield 3 will have exclusive content on the PlayStation 3.

For Battlefield 3, the exclusive content will be a copy of the downloadable Battlefield game, Battlefield 1943. If you’re wondering whether to get Battlefield 3 on PS3 or Xbox 360, the PS3 version just got a lot more interesting.

Come on guys, we don’t need another console war. The Battlefield community should have more unity than this, we need solidarity, not for our community to end up in the same state as the CoD one. PC is great, PS3 is great, it just depends on your personal preferences/circumstances etc. I would build a new gaming rig just for this game if my budget allowed, however I have a family to support, most of my friends are on PS3 and I have issues with the ergonomics of PC gaming for extended periods. Let’s leave the flaming out, and not rise to the bait if some of our more immature community members want act like the vast majority of CoD fans.

Obviously, if I had a thousand dollar+ PC to run the freaking game let alone any game, than yea, PC is the obvious choice. But no, I don’t. And I’m on the PC all day for school, I’m sick of staring at a computer screen all day. Why would I want to work and then later relax and play some games on the same screen I’m looking at for hours and hours? Also I’m just more comfortable on my bed or low chair.

I’ve been tempted to buy 1943 after I hear and heard all the time how people love it but now I can get it for free thankfully. If you have both a PS3 and 360 the choice is obvious now unless you have 1943 on either system, or you can give the code to a friend/sell it.

I loved the footage and all but I really didn’t like the release date… 2 weeks before Modern Warfare 3? No! Bad Company 2 sold so much because people HATED MW2. A couple of months after it’s release, people hear about this new fps coming in March and some tried out the demo and later got the game. I was one of the many who randomly saw the public mulltiplayer demo in the PSN store and became extremely interested in the game. I stupidly got MW2 which I thought was gonna be awesome but sold it thank God in February. I bought BC2 about a week or two after the release. The singleplayer was meh but the multiplayer was awesome, definitely top 5 multiplayer fps I’ve played this generation.

But with Medal of Honor, they released it a month before Black Ops. Most people didn’t like the game (I loved it), which made them more want to get Black Ops. Even gamestop had that deal that you could get a lot off Black Ops if you traded in MoH.

I’m not saying BF3 is gonna be bad but wait until late november/december, wait for all the people who buy MW3 to get sick of it and then throw this awesome game at them. That’s what they did with Bc2, but instead they’re releasing it 2 weeks before MW3 and 1 week before Uncharted 3. =(

LOL, I love that argument. I’ve had the same PC for the last 4 years and I’m still playing the most recent games. Who here doesn’t have a PC? Just about everyone has a PC, it’s much cheaper to spend a little more on a decent PC than to buy a cheap PC AND a game console. You say you don’t have an expensive PC, well, maybe you should have thought of that when buying your PC. Why spend $500 for a PC that can only write documents and go online only to have to spend another $500 on a game console and $20 more for every game to run at a lower resolution?? Spend that extra $500 on a better PC, pay $20 less for every game, and get games that look better, play better, are better. Well, have fun with 24 player multiplayer, I’ll be “suffering” with my 64 player multiplayer…

Lol, It doesn’t take thousands of dollars to make a PC build. You at least need 600-700 dollars to make a great running PC. You are probably thinking of buying those pre-made ones (alienware) that are over priced and expensive.

Sorry guys, the harsh truth is, if you got a console, you are wasting your money. Unless you dont care about the quality of your gaming. You can actually get a very nice PC for $700 bucks, the thing that matters most for gaming is a video card, you get yourself a $180 vid card, spend the rest on the rest of the computer, and voila. No Xbox live membership, no expensive games, no being restricted to the software on the console, no having to wait YEARS for a new console to come out. Upgrading a PC is NOT very expensive, and upgrading a PC every 2-3 yrs is a myth, you can have PCs play the latest games for 4-5 years easily depending on what you invest in, and really it’s all a matter of upgrading the video card, the RAM and CPU requirements will not increase for years to come.

People that say pc is too expensive is just bollocks. If u use ur brain, which most people don’t actually do u could buy a great pc that last 3-4years. People that buy brand pc’s, buy a brain aswell for ur next pc. And saying that spending 700 to 1000 Euros is too much get a decent job then since if u can’t afford that well GL buying / building a house /rofl..

@ken j your logic is off, I doubt most people have a pc powerful enough to run bf3. Also gaming consoles cost a little over $300 depending if you want kinect for xbox or 500 gb hardrive for ps3. I find the ps3 a cheaper choice since the online functionality is free (no fanboy). The point is, those statements you made are opinions not actual facts you can easily buy a hdmi cable for 1080p high resolution on a bigger screen (assuming you already have a tv). Also pc games dont cost $20 less than consoles they are the same. But sooner or later you will have to buy a new console, and sooner or later you will have to upgrade your parts once they are outdated (dont say buying new parts is cheaper because parts can be costly). All in all PC will get the better experience (for Battlefield 3) but the console is cheaper.

      June 7th, 2011 at 5:06 am

Uh, wow, someone has their facts way off. Of course consoles cost $300 NOW when they are 5 years old, but I’m talking about back when they first came out and you had to decide whether to invest your money on a good PC or on a crappy PC AND a gaming console. PS3′s were selling back when they were new for over $1000, sometimes $2000 on ebay within the first week or so when the craze hit.

And you think by using a HDMI cable your Xbox or PS3 is all of a sudden playing games in 1080p?? LMAO, you got a bit to learn about technology buddy. The HDMI cable enables the bandwidth, but the hardware is still the same, most console games run on 720p, regardless of how it is hooked up to your tv, A FEW PS3 games can run in 1080p, but they are at VERY low framerates, but regardless of resolution, they ALL have crappy blurry textures because neither have enough video memory to handle large textures. But you realize that PC games have been running at resolutions HIGHER than 1080p for a long time right?? For years some video cards allow for resolutions of 1600×1200, one of my monitors run at 1920×1200, which is actually higher in resolution than a 1080p tv.

Also, where do you see that PC games cost as much as console games?? I buy my PC games all the time at $40, the console version of that same game will be $60 most of the time. Sometimes it is $50 for the PC version and $60 for the console, but at the very least you save $10 per game, but often times it’s $20.

And even if you go with your $300 for a console number, do the math, everyone has a PC, even console gamers, how much did that PC cost you? $500-$600 I bet. What if instead of a $500 PC and a $300 console, you bought a $800 PC? That’ll play all games better than that console, and you will save $10-$20 per game. And hooking up your PC to your HDTV is a piece of cake, I have mine hooked up, I watch blu-ray movies that way because I installed a HD-DVD/Blu-Ray drive in my PC…

And I can say buying parts for the PC is cheap. Sure they CAN be costly, but most likely you’re getting ripped off. Most of the time if your PC is starting to get sluggish with the newest games, a new video card will hold you off for another good couple of years, extending the lifespan of your PC from 4-6 years to up to 8 years. And after that when you HAVE to do a full upgrade, that video card you bought before can be used with the new build so you can skip that. You can also reuse harddrives, power supplies, and the case, keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, etc., so really, all you’re buying is a motherboard, a CPU and memory. Which is usually cheaper than buying the newest and greatest “next-gen” console, and the timespan between the two is about even. So sorry, I have my facts straight, you don’t…

Dammit, I wasn’t supposed to say anymore, but I couldn’t help myself, lol.

You make some good points, however, your argument assumes everyone has the ability to build a good rig (that’s how a decent gaming PC become affordable) Your argument also assumes that people’s circumstances don’t change and they have liquid funds on tap for such things. There is also a social element to console gaming which you can’t really get out of PC, which is important to some. I will say again though, hands down, I would be getting BF3 on PC were it a viable option for me.

PC games are at least 15-20% cheaper than there ps3/360 counterparts also most budgetgaming PC’s will outlast a BNIB ps3/360 simple fact is there made to brake so you buy another one and another one ,my friend has a ps3 and in the 5-6 years ive been running my current rig he has had more than 4+ replacements ps3′s LOL console gaming is for the dull and not so smart minded people who love giving there money to a duff cuases if any of you ps3/360 fans had the brain to save the money you spend on replacment consoles and 50-60$ a pop games then you could afford a fairly stable running rig that would play BF3 so go stick your Pads on vibrate and sit on them.

I’m gonna get this on 360.
I have 1943 on 360 and i have a code for it on PS3 as well but I’ve never redeemed it, so that’s not a draw for me at all.
I hate the PS3 controller for Shooters, I guess if i forced myself to use it more i would learn to love it.
Seriously tempted to buy a PC just for this game though.
I know you can get an half-decent PC for £400 but I’d have to buy a Monitor for it, a Mouse, probably a Desk and chair too, so it works out quite expensive.
I’m looking at getting a new tv soon so i may look into one i can us for the pc and my consoles.

If you’re on a budget and don’t want to get a monitor, just buy that PC and get a wireless keyboard and mouse and just use your tv as a monitor. A lot of PC’s have HDMI outputs to connect to HDTV’s, and even if your PC doesn’t, most HDTV’s have a DVI input so it can act as a big monitor, and just play BF3 on there. Your friends will come over and will be completely blown away by the graphics if they’re used to Xbox of PS3, I guarantee you, lol.

PC supports the 64 players and many ways to get around server issues.
PS3 gets hacked and server gos down for weeks. Also if you try to fix a server issue it crosses the Sony Policy that they are now being more strict about.
Overall if you cant buy a PC that will support this game buy an X-box 360 which also supports keyboard and mouse. (Still only 24 players on X-box 360 but if a server crashes then you can get around it without getting banned).

However, after like 2 to 3 hours of schoolwork per day on a computer (sometimes more), I really do not want to stare at it again for RELAXATION (on a more personal note, for some reason my eyes are stressed more when I play on PC, I have no idea why), which would be why I’m getting it for PS3.

Alright i know that PC’s are better for actual quality and all, ive got a 4 gig laptop and i dont think any next gen consol will be able to run ARMA 2 like this thing can, but consoles are quite cheap depending on who you are. I love my steam sales, i dropped $100Au in the summer (winter here) sales and i love all the indie games like Zombie Driver and Nation red, not to mention STALKER (fuck typing the dots) which are cheap as chips and you cant get on console but i have a site called which ships (free shipping for everything) from britain and pre-ordering BC3 is $60 and its a shit ton cheaper than steam which has bumped its auzzie prices up to $89 for the new games which i want when it used to be $40 because of the economic climate. $89 on steam is what ill pay at JB for a console game and i used to go PC cause its cheaper but now my Xbox is getting used again. My xbox has all my really good friends on it and has FORZA 3 as well and is more chill cause of the easier to use (not better) controller and my friends. Although PC has minecraft which used to be an instant win, PC minecraft will beat xbox’s no doubt. (P.S i have a laptop so i can watch movies when im away which is alot)

If you have around 1000 £ for a PC (or have a pc with geforce 580 minimum) your choice should be the pc version. But under this config you couldn`t play in 1080p ultra settings. So if you play just 720p medium settings is nearly same like on console.
