DICE has posted a new blog post where they announced the cancellation of the PC version of Battlefield 1943, the downloadable Battlefield game which was released back in 2009, and was still scheduled for release on the PC — meanwhile, gamers knew that the chance of the PC version ever seeing the day of light was slim.
Now that it’s been officially canceled, along side the PC counterpart of “Onslaught” DLC for Bad Company 2, which was released for consoles last year. This was done in order for DICE to turn their full attention to Battlefield 3, as DICE’s Karl Magnus Troedsson said:
It’s time to look ahead to the next giant leap for DICE – the release of Battlefield 3, powered by the mighty Frostbite 2 engine. Our goal is crystal clear: we’re going to build the best Battlefield game ever, and we’ll do whatever it takes to make this the biggest launch in DICE’s history.
That’s certainly good news for Battlefield 3 fans, as DICE now appears to be in full swing with the vast majority of their developers working on the title. The official Battlefield 3 reveal is less than a month away.
