BF3 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
We’ve gotten a spicy screenshot showing Battlefield 3 in action. The source of this, a Swede who called himself “Doe”, said it was from an alpha version of BF3, supposedly taken at home at one of the DICE developers in Stockholm, Sweden.
Before we get ahead of ourselves, note that DICE has yet to release any screenshots or footage of the game, and that this might be fake. Having said that, it does look legit, and judging from the screenshot, or rather, a photo of the game in action, we can determine:
- The minimap looks more like BF2 than the recent Bad Company 2, and is positioned in the same upper right corner.
- Ammo (bottom right) and health indicators (bottom left) are similar to BF2 as well.
- The minimap shows two teams, US vs MEC, the same teams as featured in BF2 (MEC was also present in Bad Company 1).
We’re also certain that this is not the recently announced Battelfield PLay4Free, as it uses another engine and has a different HUD (video here). Additional details we’ve dug up on the EXIF data on the image show that the photo was taken very recently, on December 5. Full EXIF data:

We’ve dispatched emails to DICE and EA for comments on this. We’ll update this post as soon as we hear from them.
UPDATE: we can confirm that it’s a fake — Photoshopped from this Bad Company 2 wallpaper. Thanks for our commenters “DomagojH76″ and “EL1TE” for pointing it out.

This is a fake, its Arica Harbor from Bad Company 2.
i HOPE that is a health bar, I hate this new red screen of death that is plaguing current FPS’s at the moment.
I also hope that BF3 stays true to BF2 and not Bad Company, I want huge 64 player maps (daqing, fushee etc – beautiful and fun to play)
If BF3 is a true BF2 sequel, we’re definetely going to see the best, most entertaining war game around. I have 1500 hours on BF2 and since then there hasn’t been a game that I would spend so much time on.
Thank Lord it’s fake…I was going to take the decision to never buy BF3 since the screenshot obviously came from a console. …and we all know that the BF franchise is way better on PC
(but still, Bad Company isnt all that bad, but it doesnt capture the real spirit of Battlefield)

FAILLL. Arica Harbor screenshot from BC2 and they photoshoped the image and added a BF2 mini map and added an F2000, a mini map or Arica Harbor from BC2, and the ammo stuff.
It does look like Africa Harbor a lot — I just played a round there. TBH I’d prefer the new ammo and health indicators. And if there’s a health indicator, it means there won’t be COD style regenerative health. Which would be awesome, more power to the medics.

Looks exactly like BC2. Oh wait, that’s because it is. lol wtf, it’s like whoever made this did not even try.
Definitely fake, the minimap was what threw me for a second, but the characters are totally BF:BC2.

i made it in 20 min and the map is no that far off there is a tank there and i added hot Swap from BF2

DAMBIT! A fake! I was hoping you could play as a Dwarf named Grenade Red Beard which would explain why the gun was so low to the ground.

We’ve actually contacted the guy who sent us the fake BF3 screenshot, looking to get his words on how he did it.

Good. because the gun really need some work and physics also. We are not fish so do not make the movement so bolkey.
